CountryBride, on February 18, 2021 at 5:10 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11

I am going to try on dresses tomorrow and going in with a open mind. I don't want to make the same mistake I did last time and pick a dress that I learned to love instead I want to get a dress I am obsessed about any tips

Thanks

Take your shapewear if you have any. It makes dresses look smoother, no buldge. Some dresses do comes with boning or corset top, and that’s just great. Also, since your wedding is still a while, a corset back allows you to tie the dress as much or less as needed. I already alter my dress, so I am kind of nervous not to fit in it because I still have 18 months to go 😞

I was pregnant at the time I got my other dress and it no longer fits and won’t fit so my fiancé is letting me use his card and letting me get the dress of my dreams

I took inspiration pics from Pinterest. Even then I wasn’t sure what I wanted. I thought I wanted a corset style but my dress Isn’t even close! I love my dress but I tried on 5 other dresses after it at a different boutique. That’s the moment I knew I’d found it! Called the 1st place & told them I’d be back! Felt so foolish but the lady was awesome, reassured me that I had to make sure so I wouldn’t have any dress regrets.

Are you going by yourself or bringing anyone with you? Either way, I'd have the stylist or someone with you grab some things that aren't necessarily your style, are very different, or look intriguing but so-so on the hanger. Having an open mind like you mentioned is honestly the best thing you can do for yourself!

If you find a dress you love, let your family/friends take pics of it and don’t buy it then and there. Sleep on it and look at the photos the next day. It can be easy to get caught up in the initial reactions of everybody and to impulse buy.

Omg this is probably the best tip. I bought a dress before covid because I feel in love with it. After looking at the picture my mom took of me I started to hate the dress, the more I looked at the picture the more I hated it. When it finally came in, I never even took the dress home I went to the store and got my money back.

Totally third this! I was shocked that some of the dresses I thought I looked great in when I looked in the mirror looked totally different (and not in a good way) in pictures.

This is great advice! If you find a dress you love, take pictures and think on it for awhile before purchasing anything. You still have 14 months until your wedding, and I know you said you were currently on a weight-loss journey. My best advice would be to purchase the size of dress that fits the day you purchase it, not the size you hope to be by your wedding day. It’s easier to take in a dress if you lose weight than to try to let one out, or have to buy a third dress. If you are serious about losing weight prior to the wedding, I would definitely look for A-line or ballgown dresses, because they are the most forgiving and most easy to alter if you lose weight. Corset backs are also a great idea for people whose weight may fluctuate, because it allows you to loosen it to a size bigger, or tighten it to a size smaller.

Be open to everything. You are the one who will be wearing it so take other opinions with a grain of salt. You will know it's the one when you don't want to take it off. Do not rush or settle.
