Tipping Protocol for Professional Services

Elizabeth, on September 20, 2020 at 11:47 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 10
This question may have been asked already..

Does anyone know whether or not the photographer and catering services requires tipping or these included in high cost amounts if so, about 🤔 how much. Wedding is intimate and very small. Please advise

Some caterers include gratuity in the bill, so definitely check your contact. Ours included 22% gratuity.
For photographers, I’ve always been told you don’t need to tip if the photographer is a self-proprietor. If you hire a company that provides a photographer, you should tip because all of the money you pay isn’t going directly to the photographer.

Tip what you feel they deserved by going above and beyond the call of duty. Do not tip for just showing up or providing bad service. Do not tip the day of when you are unable to objectively assess their work..wait until a week or two after the wedding when you come down from cloud 9 and send any tips in a post-event thank you card.

    Jana,
So I can understand you better your saying have envelopes ready with tip 💰 with a thank you message (card). So should give them to my daughter to pass out because I know I'm not going to be thinking about such things. I have mo bridal party.

Wait until you come back from your honeymoon and sit down with (future) spouse to go over how the day went without being on your cloud 9 bubble the day of. Were there any unacceptable actions by the vendors? Was everything truly perfect without a hitch? After you determine all that, then distribute thank you cards and applicable tips. Otherwise if you tip them the day of, and they turn out to be crappy or don't show or whatever, you are thanking thdm for bad/mediocre service, which is why waiting is better if possible.
