Tipping Photographer/Videographer

Megan, on December 12, 2017 at 2:04 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 4

What percent of a tip is customary for wedding photographers and videographers? When do you give it and how, check, cash, etc? We are hiring two separate companies and it is adventure elopement style.

ETA: Both own their own companies and do not work under anyone.

Usually $60-$100 each cash is perfect.

My photographer owns his own company, and I hired 2 shooters - $100 each.

I used NST Pictures for cinematography and they have several cinematographers under contract - same tip: $100 each (I had two of them as well). I tipped them in cash, put it in a sealed envelope and handed it to my DOC to distribute so my H and I didn't have to.

To me, it doesn't matter whether or not they own their own business. If they provided me/us with excellent service, they're getting a tip.

Thanks for the input! I added in their own companies to see if the percentage changes, not if they shouldn't get a tip.

I was thinking $100 for my photographer, plus we want to put together a gift basket for her with some of her favorite things (she lists items in the about page of her site).
