Tipping at Hair/Makeup Trial

LoveBubbles, on November 12, 2015 at 10:53 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9

So I know this question has been asked to death but I can't seem to locate any recent thread to reference so I'll put this out there again. Did/ do you tip at your hair and makeup trial, just on the day of or both? and if you did how much? I prepaid both my hair and makeup artist months ago and my trial is included in the "day of" price so I don't know if that effects anything. My trials are tomorrow so please help a sister out.

We tipped them on the wedding day, not on the trial.

I would tip both times because they spend time on you and perform a service both times. I'm planning a regular 20% tip for hair and makeup, and I am being charged for a trial and day of separately so it's easy to decide how much to tip each time.

I tipped. I didn't want her to get all salty about it and do a terrible job day of because she thought I wasn't a tipper. I'm self-conscious and weird about that though.

I just had my trial yesterday and gave a $20 tip, even though the makeup artist said nothing is due @ trial. I felt bad not giving anything... so I figured 20 bucks was OK.

I tipped 20% for each stylist, even when I ended up having some free trials thrown in. I tipped again on the wedding day.

I am in a similar situation with my H/Mu...I bought a Bridal package from her that included a session for trial, bridal portrait h/mu, as well as on-location day-of all wrapped up into one price. She owns the h/mu company and does solely that, h/mu for weddings, photo shoots, etc...she is not a stylist out of a general beauty salon. I decided against tipping on the day of my trail and bridal appointments, but I am tipping on the day of. I plan to tip what would be the equivalent of 20% of the total package price that I paid.

I'm going to my regular stylist for hair, and we are planning to redo my highlights the day of my trial, so I will tip both at trial and day of. MUA owns her own business, so I do not plan to tip at the trial, but will do so at the wedding.
