Tintype Portrait Before Ceremony

Christine, on February 27, 2022 at 12:11 PM Posted in Married Life 0 12

Hi Fellow Brides and Grooms!

Just got married last weekend 😊 and we got a 8x10 tintype taken just before our ceremony. The photographer set up a little developing tent and was able to develop and varnish it before the reception so we were able to have it on display on our photo wall. So absolutely thrilled with how it turned out. It’s a great memento of the day. If you have the time and money, plus a photographer in your area able to do it, I highly suggest it. I used Instagram and google to find a photographer local to LA where we got married. Mike from @moderntype.photo was absolutely amazing and I highly recommend him if your in the LA area and want to do this.

Love love love!! There's a photographer near me who does tin type photos, but I couldn't budget her in on my wedding day. Still plan on using her services in the future, maybe for an anniversary photoshoot!

I agree, if you can find/budget a tin type photographer for your wedding day, DO IT!!

Even just asking the photographer for sepia photos (similar to this with the old fashioned brown tint) is budget friendly and not difficult to do.

Another more budget friendly option is to use one of your wedding portraits and have a tintype photographer create a negative from it to then use to create a tintype in they’re photo lab. I think there’s a person in Chicago that specializes in this called Digital Tintype.

I love this! I may have to look into something like this as either an anniversary gift for my husband or a gift for our parents.
