Timeshare presentation for a free honeymoon vacation?

Brittny, on September 23, 2016 at 8:42 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 16

I received a call today regarding me having won a raffle for being a part of a bridal expo I was registered for. I am promised a choice between a few different prizes which includes certain paid hotel stays or an all inclusive vacation stay for our honeymoon. All we have to do is attend an hour and a half presentation (with no obligation to buy anything) with my fiancé. I have never attended any of these before but have heard they can be rude in pressuring people to buy things. They may have many restrictions to prizes but FH says he has friends who toughened through it and still received their vacation. So my question is, is it worth it?

Yes! I know someone who did this. Just hang touch during the presentation and don't give in!

Not worth it to me. Don't want to deal with frustration and being pressured into anything.

I used to work for a time share company. As long as you aren't easily pressured, I think it's worth it.

I did this in Maui in June in order to get free snorkel trips for my FH, his 2 kids and I. It was tough!! My appointment was one on one and nan that lady just kept trying to talk me into it. For a free honeymoon it might be worth it but beware.

I went to one with the mind set just say no but those people were persistently rude and because I am an easy going person I hated it. Anytime someone tells me time share I run. However my sister went through one and she didn't think it was to bad but she has a stronger personality. Also beware because normally they are longer than they say they are.

Do not do it. It was hell on Earth when FH and I went to one of these presentations.

The only thing I would be careful about is a lot of those vacations have a ton of black out dates so you may have to be flexible with your travel dates. Also you may have to pay a couple of fees. Mostly it's just taxes but sometimes there is a processing fee as well Other then that I would.

We just went to one. Got a free 3 day trip out of it. Was horrible sitting for 90 minutes but worth a free trip.

I would definitely do it for the free trip. FH has quite the personality to stand his ground and I may be a bit less impatient than him but I would love to save money to put more towards our catering

Im sorry, but FH and I enjoyed these so much! We have gotten multiple invitations and if we have the time, we go. Now, 1. It always extend more than the time frame they mentioned so be prepared. 2. They will push, you just have to be honest and say no. 3. Our last one was so good that we bought our pots and pans set for $3k!!!

But, so far we have like 4 three-days hotel stays, 1 5-days cruise, 2 gift certificates for an acrylic photo, a $250 gift card, and 2 all inclusive 'honeymoon' vacations...

Yup, we have gone to some lol
