We are having a 5:30pm ceremony on the beach. I have myself and 4 others getting hair and makeup done. I won’t have a photographer to do getting ready pics. And the ceremony is about 10 minutes away from the ceremony site. I can’t imagine starting to get ready in the morning. I’d like to just be able to relax a little! Any suggestions for when to start getting ready?

I’d at least start by 10am for 5 people. Your hmua will tell you how much time they need.

Yeah I agree. 10 am would be a good time to start getting ready. My ceremony also starts at 5:30pm. I don't have a timeline yet, but with 6 ladies in my bridal party I know we will start hmua in the morning.

Your HMUA will tell you how much time she needs so I would ask her and then create your timeline.

I would ask your hmua how much time they need because it will vary depending on the look you are wanting. It also depends on if you have one hmua or multiple- if the same person is doing all five of you obviously you’ll have to start much earlier.

Are you doing photos before ceremony though? I would still get ready in the morning around 10 too

I would honestly rather get started early and be able to take my time with getting ready rather than feeling rushed or run the risk of running late, but that’s just me.

Your Hair & Makeup artist(s) should be able to tell you based on the number of PP you’re having how much time they will need, and then factor in some time to chill and get into your dress.

Agree with others that an experienced HMUA should be able to give you a timeline with specific appointment times for each person. You should be last, and make sure there is extra time/a good buffer built in to determine your start time. Daughter's HMUA took 2 hours and I think the stylist actually allotted her 2.5 hours. The specific timing depends on how many stylists there are (is one person doing five people's hair and make-up? If so, that's going to take a while...) and how much time the stylist(s) tell you they need for each service. Daughter and I needed to be done by 10:15 am, and we started just after 7.... (The ceremony began at 3:30.) The last thing you want is to be running late, so give yourself PLENTY of time for the unexpected. Good luck!

It depends on what you're getting done and how many people will be working on you, definitely check with them. In my original plan, I was going to go to the salon the afternoon before the wedding to have a gloss treatment and blow out so my hair wouldn't take as long on the day of.
Our appointments (4 people, including me, getting hair and make up) would've started at 11, with three people working on us. They said we would probably be done by 1, which gave us plenty of time because we were allowed to get to the venue (10 minutes from the salon/20 minutes from my parents' house) at 2:30 for our 5pm wedding. If you had a similar time-saving plan and didn't want to get to the beach early, I think you could start around 12 or 1 and be okay.

My wedding ceremony is starting at 4:00 and the makeup artist said she will need to start at 8:30, my hair stylist at 9:30 (I have one girl who has a pixie cut so there won’t need to be any kind of hair styling for her). I asked them to be finished by 2:00 so we had enough time to get to the venue and take some photos. It all depends on how many people are getting you ready, how many others need to be done and how much time you want to have before the ceremony to get dressed, etc.
