Timeline?

Samantha, on September 23, 2020 at 3:47 PM Posted in Planning 0 14
Does this look like a good timeline? Our wedding is 430 on a Friday (10-16-2020). We are still figuring out songs and things but I just typed this up today. It takes anywhere from 30-60 minutes to get to the church (wedding and reception) from our house (he will be staying with either his mom of grandpa the night before). Our pastor said we can come Thursday to set up/decorate.
Let me know if I should add/take away anything please. Thanks in advance for anything you say/input Smiley smile

Time line

Thursday

5pm- get to church to decorate gym and auditorium.

Friday

9am- wake up (get dressed in regular clothes)

10am- eat small breakfast

11am - get to church, make sure all decor is set up/ready, Traci (MOH) arrives at church, maybe Ashley too (check to see where she wants to do makeup)

Noon/1230pm- get lunch to church

115-230pm- get makeup/hair done (me, Traci, hunter). Wyatt and Ryan (best man) get to church in their dress clothes or have dress clothes with them to change into.

230-315pm- pictures (separate). Travis (stepdad) sees me in wedding dress for the first time.

315-415pm- final touches, relax. Guest arrive and seat themselves

415-430pm- line up to enter auditorium.

430pm- ceremony. Wyatt seats his mom, JM seats momma

5-545/6pm- pictures (together)/family pictures. Guest in gym taking pictures and such. Assigned tables.

6pm- reception starts. (Dinner)

645pm- father/daughter dance, mother/son dance, first dance.

715pm- cut cake/eat cake.

745pm- we leave church head to Eastman. (Other people clean up, figure out who is doing to clean up)

1045/11pm- arrive in Eastman for honeymoon.

Here are some possible flaws I may see in this plan but it also depends on how many people are attending and involved in the wedding. I am putting comments next to some of the items in your timeline:

9am- wake up (get dressed in regular clothes)

10am- eat small breakfast Maybe 9:30 if you can or wake up at 8 and 9 a.m. for breakfast

11am - get to church, make sure all decor is set up/ready, Traci (MOH) arrives at church, maybe Ashley too (check to see where she wants to do makeup) This should be done the night before so it is one less thing to worry about day of. Since you factored that in I would leave it alone for the day or maybe ask someone not in the wedding party to check.

Noon/1230pm- get lunch to church Have you spoken to your hair and make up artist. I know one of the last weddings I was in where we all went to get hair and make up done we had breakfast and were there until time to get ready. I see you have three people you are factoring in...I have 2 hours set aside for hair and make up just for me so I am sure if my MOH were coming we may need to factor in 3 or 4 hours. Unless each person will have their own artist you will probably need more time.

115-230pm- get makeup/hair done (me, Traci, hunter). Wyatt and Ryan (best man) get to church in their dress clothes or have dress clothes with them to change into. When and where are you changing?

230-315pm- pictures (separate). Travis (stepdad) sees me in wedding dress for the first time.

315-415pm- final touches, relax. Guest arrive and seat themselves

415-430pm- line up to enter auditorium.

430pm- ceremony. Wyatt seats his mom, JM seats momma

5-545/6pm- pictures (together)/family pictures. Guest in gym taking pictures and such. Assigned tables. Talk to photographer if one hour is enough time. Will you have a cocktail hour for guests not taking pics?

6pm- reception starts. (Dinner) How long will it take for everyone to get food and eat comfortably?

    645pm- father/daughter dance, mother/son dance, first dance.

715pm- cut cake/eat cake. So not reception for dancing or anything?? Just curious that was not a judgement.

745pm- we leave church head to Eastman. (Other people clean up, figure out who is doing to clean up) I would organize this now as I am sure the venue would not want it dirty. Is anyone willing to do that? Truthfully if I were in a bridal party I maybe would but I would not want to clean up after being at a wedding.

1045/11pm- arrive in Eastman for honeymoon.

The 9am wake up meant I needed to be awake by 9 (like actually up and getting ready).
If I eat breakfast it’s usually like 10 or so when I do. But I probably won’t eat breakfast but if I do I want to eat it by 10 and it would be something like a bagel or something like that.
The “check with her on where she wants to do makeup” was more of a reminder type thing not a check that day (sorry, should’ve said that lol) Has for makeup/hair time. I didn’t know how long it would take honestly. I know my makeup will be pretty simple and I’m gonna see if either I can do my hair or if my sister or MOH can do it. Hunter is my flower girl so she won’t have too much done. And Traci (MOH) I have to see what she wants for her hair and such. The church is letting us use one big Sunday school classroom (that is right across the hall from the ladies room) to get ready in and such. I said an hour for pictures because that’s what the lady doing them kinda hinted at when we have talked to her back and forth. And the pictures guest will be taking are instant print photos that they can up in the photo album that will be near the photo booth. There maybe an “activity sheet” type thing at each seat (have to decide on that ) but there will be a guest book for them to sign and there will be a kids table with activities for them. I wasn’t sure on that. Guest would start getting food as soon as we get done with picture tho. But I’ve also been thinking of letting Guest go ahead and get their food and start eating a little before we finish with pictures (because we can only get pictures until it gets dark and that happens early in October, so we will mostly be getting couples pictures during the picture time) We can’t have the guest dancing because our church doesn’t allow group dancing (Baptist church in the south) And the people to clean up after was a reminder for me to ask people lol. Thank you for replying and the advise. Smiley smile

Ahhh okay that makes sense. I would say wherever you are getting hair and make up done I would ask. My look is natural with a pop of color but even then it will take a bit. I would just think factoring everyone in even if doing something simple could be a bit so you just want to factor that in. Now that you explained some things I get it. This seems like a chill wedding so nothing wrong with people eating while pics being taken. If you would rather everyone eat dinner with you two then maybe just some simple cheese and crackers for them to snack on?

Thank you so much for the advise and responding!
Yeah we’re going for a causal yet nice type of thing. FH and his best man are gonna wear nice jeans, button up shirts, and vest. Probably gonna let guest start getting their food like 530 or so that way they can all get through the food line (we’re having a buffet style but with servers) I wear glasses so you won’t be able to see much of my eyes anyway. So I’m going with a really simple type of look and then my hair will be curly/wavy (I want it to look like it does after I French braid it while it is wet and let it dry and it’s all wavy and such, but without looking frizzy/messy) But, does the just of it sound good? (Now that some of it is explained) should I add anything? I’ll be checking with the girl doing makeup (MOH’s sister that I know really well and she loves doing makeup) to see what she thinks for time to get everything done and where she wants to do it (I figure she would want to do it at the church since it would be 3 people but that’s up to her....) but will probably get to the church earlier than 11am or at least start on makeup/hair earlier than that lol.

OK well that is good make up will be done at the site so no need for rushing to leave a salon. My friend had her wedding and wore glasses and she still looked beautiful so glasses are totally great even on the wedding day. Smiley smile My FH is blind and has astigmatism so he cannot do contact but I see him and met him with glasses so I love it. It's him to me.

I think your hair will be fine but do you have picture? Since you are indoors you do not have to worry about wind and weather which is great for hair, Are you wearing a little hair piece for a nice accent?

I think check on make up, if you are getting ready at the church then you can see how the decorations are holding up but I fully agree to get it all done the night before. I also suggest making sure someone makes a plate for you two as you will both be hungry. In case you cannot grab lunch have some food or snack in the getting ready room and eat before make up so you can brush your teeth. Bring an emergency kit and toiletries kit plus some lovely perfume for the day.

My FH has only known me with glasses too. I can see without them but it’s way easier with them.
I don’t have a picture of my hair but I’m gonna see if I can braid it up and then let it dry and maybe add a little hairspray to see how it holds up. Everything will be indoors except most (if not all) of the pictures, depends on when it gets dark. And the only hairpiece I’ll be wearing is my veil with a comb to hold it in place. I’ll probably have some of my hair pulled back to help hold the comb in place is all.
And yes if we have the guest start getting food/eating before we get back in from pictures then we would have a plate for each of us made up ahead of time. And that’s a good idea on the snack too. I’m thinking of having a little “day of bag” with little things like that. Thank you for all the information Smiley smile

I’m not picky at all. Honestly. I usually don’t wear makeup except for special things. But I will probably give more time for makeup/hair just in case.

4:30 is pretty early for a Friday wedding. You will likely have a higher decline rate since most people are still working at 4:30 on Fridays.
Did you talk to your HMUA to make sure this will provide her enough time to finish everyone’s hair and makeup?

We have 110 people who said they are coming. We sent invitations early so people could plan accordingly. I have to talk to the girl doing makeup but there’s really only 2 people that she would be doing (me and my MOH-who might do her own makeup since she wears makeup more than me.) And maybe a little bit on the flower girl (it’s up to her mom on that one).
I’m probably gonna do my own hair because I want it to look like it dose after if been French braided overnight (curly/wavy) but without getting frizzy/messy. Everything is indoors.

Lol okay. So need to account for more time on makeup/hair than. Good to know. If/when I ever wear makeup I only wear liquid foundation and it takes like 5-10 minutes to do. And I don’t do that, that often either. So I didn’t know how much time to account for makeup time.

Have you done a trial run on hair and makeup? I know that most professional makeup or hair people offer trial runs to see what you like and don’t like and how much time you actually need.

I haven’t done one for makeup and I’ll probably try something with my hair this week or next week. But the girl doing makeup isn’t a professional but she does professional quality makeup and she loves to do makeup and she knows what she’s doing. I showed her pictures of what I’m going for (really simple but nice and more than just foundation like I normally do). But I can see if she wants to do a trial run of makeup.
