Timeline for Save the Date

Molly, on December 21, 2019 at 9:54 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 9
So what is the rule of thumb when sending out save-the-date is it 9 months before the wedding or is it6 months. My wedding in 11/07/20. I'm thinking of sendingg them out March/ April.

Then send out the invatations beginning of August, or maybe the end. I'm not really sure and need some help.

Mine is in July so I'm sending out my save the dates any day now. I'll probably send out invites June 1st.

Save the date timeline is typically 6-9 months depending on how many traveling guests you have. I got married in October and we sent our STD’s our in April. We only had a couple of guests coming from out of state. Ladies who have destination weddings or who have a lot of out of state guests tend to send closer to the 9 month mark.

Invitations are typically sent 8 weeks before you wedding with a RSVP deadline of 2 weeks before your final headcount is due.

We are sending our invites out around 8-9 weeks before wedding. We are asking for RSVPs to be in 4 weeks before the wedding.
To allow us 1 week to chase down no responses before our venue needs numbers.

Our wedding is 9/12. I am sending my save the dates out after the holiday. Invitations will go out in mid-May. This is a little earlier than what people usually say but all of our guests are from out of town. Our deadline will be 8/12

Our wedding is 8/22/20. I'm sending my Save the dates out in January after the crazy holiday rush. Then I am sending my invites out the last part of May with the RSVP's due August 1.

You're always better off sending your save the dates earlier rather than later, so that you can give people the most amount of time to get off from work, and make sure they are able to make it. It also depends if the wedding is going to be local or a destination wedding. For a local occasion, 6 months in advance is a good amount of time, however if you are planning a destination wedding I would give at least 8 months of notice, since some people might need to figure out funds to travel. My wedding is also 9/12, and all of my family (and majority of friends) is out of state so I had been wondering about the timeline for invitations. I think I will plan for mid-May as well then!
