View Quoted Comment Since you don't want to do a first look, I would do separate family and bridal party photos prior to the ceremony otherwise you will have a very long cocktail hour. Then during cocktail hour I would do full family photos, full bridal party photos and the photos of you with your husband. Your photographer should be able to give you an idea when you should be dressed and ready to go for pictures. Based on that time, your hair and makeup artist should be able to give you an idea when hair and makeup should start.


For my wedding, our venue picked our ceremony start time for 4:30 pm. I spoke with my photographer about what photos I wanted to take prior to the ceremony. I had a first look with my dad, then bridesmaids/bride's man photos then a first look with my husband. After my husband and I'd first look, I went back to the suite I got ready with my girls for about 30 minutes then the ceremony started. My photographer told me we needed to have hair, makeup and dresses on by 2:30 pm. I told my hair and makeup artist this information and they planned to come at 8 based on how many people were having hair and makeup down.

My ceremony is at 4, and we are planning to meet at 10 am!

This way we have plenty of time for nerves and giggles and getting all dolled up, here's a general overview of my timeline

10-2 Hair & makeup

2:30 Brides Dress on!

2:45-3:15 Bride Photos

3:15-3:45 Bridesmaid Photos

3:45-4:15 Last minute breather before walking down the aisle

12pm - arrive at venue
12.30pm - hair & make up arrive
3pm - dress on3.30pm - bride and bridal party photos 4pm - first look photos
5pm - ceremony
