My brother's wedding was at 2:00. He had a very small bridal party. I was the maid of honor and my sister was a bridesmaid. My dad was the best man and my husband's friend since he was like 2 as a groom's men. My mom, sister and I went to the salon at 9 am to have our hair and makeup done. We were done by 12. My sister-in-law and her mom went to a different salon because my sister-in-law forgot to book a hair and makeup artist until 3 weeks before the wedding so finding a place was very difficult. We were all at the church by 12:30 which is the latest we wanted to be there by. We didn't do any getting ready photos because the bride didn't want to. The photographer arrived around 12:30 to take detail photos and photos of the church. My sister and got dressed at 1:00 then helped the bride get dress. She was dressed by 1:45. Then everyone lined up. The ceremony started at 2:00 and was done by 2:30. Then we had the receiving line and were on our way to the reception venue by 3:00. We took photos from like 3:00-4:30. At 4:30 were the introductions. After the introductions we gave our speeches and dinner was served at 5:00. After dinner they had their first dance, the mother son dance and my brother split a dance with my sister and I. The bride didn't want to do a dance because her father backed out on attending last minute. The reception went until 8.

Hey Chelsea! Ait looks like you have gotten some great examples of wedding day timelines! Are you starting to think about your own timeline?

The best place to start is with events that have a definite start time, for example, your ceremony starting at 2:30. How long will your ceremony last? You can then start planning what needs to happen immediately after your ceremony, like factoring in travel time to your reception venue, speak to your photographer about how much time they estimate for photos after the ceremony. Will you be taking any photos before your ceremony? How far in advance of your ceremony would you feel comfortable arriving?

Are you hiring stylists for your hair and makeup? I would definitely recommend you consult them to find out how long they think this will take so you can book an appropriate start time.
