How long should the day of the wedding be from ceremony to reception? We have two side of the family “Mexican” and “American”

Most American weddings are very short. 15-30 mins for ceremony, 30 minutes for pictures, cocktail hour/dinner/dancing is 4 hrs total. What I know from Mexican friends is that wedding celebrations tend to be 12 hrs minimum. Many venues have no curfew so you stay as long as you want. That is something only you and your fiance can decide.

It's totally a personal preference. My husband and I are both American and our ceremony started at 4:30 with cocktail hour immediately following then the reception. The reception ended at 10 pm then we went to a bar with anyone who wanted to come along for an after party. Our venue set the time for the ceremony and the end time for the reception so a lot of it could be based on how long the venue will allow you to use their space(s).

Same girl! it's so hard trying to squeeze everything in less than 5 hrs. I'm Mexican and my fiance is American. Our venue allows up to extra 2 hrs but that also means more $$$ so instead we wanted to do an after party at their bar which was cheaper, however with covid regulations (no alcohol or food served after 10:30pm) we may not be able to do it. It really all comes down to how things are in April 🤞
