Time off?

Gabby, on September 20, 2021 at 8:11 AM Posted in Planning 0 24
For those of you not going to your honeymoon after your wedding, how much time are you taking off before/after? I am a teacher. So far I'm taking off the day of my wedding (Friday) and I already don't have classes the Thursday before. I'm also considering taking off the Wednesday before as well. I'm not sure if there's stuff I will need to prep that day? Also Wednesday is my worst lineup of classes typically so it would honestly take me a long time to destress and feel relaxed from school. I'd love to hear others opinions/experiences. I'm considering it just to cut back on the stress alone.

I would definitely take Wednesday off. It sounds like it’s a stressful day, and you should try to avoid external stressors as much as possible. Also, I think being available at least 2 days before the wedding is a good idea, as I’m sure unexpected things will pop up that will require your attention. Plus, it just gives you some time to relax and destress and make sure you have dotted all your i’s and crossed all your t’s

My wedding is also a Friday and I was considering a similar schedule. I will for sure take Thursday off and I am considering Wednesday as well, for the same reasons, just to destress and prepare for the long yet exciting weekend to come! I still have a year to consider, but I would say if you have the PTO days and don't think you'll need/want them for something else later then definitely take it off!

I'm also considering the Monday after just to extend the weekend and maybe take that time to start on thank you cards.

For our minimony last year I took off the for the entire week. We only went to the National Harbor in Washington D.C since everything was shut down. We are having our reception this year on 10/2 and I took off the day before and the whole week after because we are going to Mexico.

We aren't planning on going on an extravagant honeymoon (traveling abroad) right away anyways. My FH and I are planning on doing something in the states though after. I'm planning on taking time off starting the Wednesday before my wedding (Sunday wedding) (I'll have Tuesday off and work Monday) then taking the week after (because my birthday will be then) but we won't leave for vacation the Monday after, maybe Tuesday-Saturday or something.

Ours is on a Sunday, and I am planning on taking Thursday-Monday off (no honeymoon afterwards). I too need time to de-stress and prepare both mentally and to have everything organized and ready to go.

We got married on a Sunday so I took the Friday before and Monday after off. I didn’t feel like I needed more time than that, but we did have a small wedding due to covid so there wasn’t much for me to do.
It does sound like taking Wednesday off too would help, so if you’re able to you might as well

My wedding was on a Friday and I only took the day of off. There wasn't much to do Thursday at all except steam the dress and my husband's suit.

We aren’t doing much of honeymoon; we are taking a long weekend to the mountains, I’m taking the entire week of my wedding and the the entire week after. I work for an extremely busy in house HOA and I don’t want to even think about it the week of the wedding, especially since we are getting married on a Thursday, what’s the point of going in for a day or two at the beginning of the week? Lol My fiancé is taking a week off.

We're still undecided on if we're taking our honeymoon right after the wedding, but I am planning on taking the whole week of my Friday Wedding off.

We have to drop all our decor off at the venue the Monday before and the venue is only open during the time I work so it wouldn't make sense for me to just work Tuesday Wednesday, I'd rather the whole week so I can really decompress and be as stress free as possible on my wedding day.

H and I got married the Friday of Labor Day weekend so we already had Saturday-Monday after the wedding off. I had planned on only taking Thursday and Friday off but I was so stressed by Tuesday evening (over stupid stuff lol) that I took Wednesday off as well. I don't think taking any more than 2 days before the wedding would've helped me much, though - the little things I was getting stressed about were time-sensitive and couldn't be done any earlier anyway (arranging flowers, packing up our edible favors, practicing our first dance, etc.).

My wedding is on a Sunday but we are having family arrive in town on the Friday so I will be taking Wednesday-Friday off work.

Between organising things such as spray tans and manicures as well as getting everything that needs to be done at the last minute (i.e. cleaning our home ahead of photos, picking up hired suits etc) I wanted enough time off work to ensure everything would be done without feeling under the pump.
