Time limit

I’m looking at venues and a few have a five hour time frame.. does this raise and issue with anyone? I want people to be able to stay if they’re having fun. Am I expecting to much? I feel for the prices some places charge I should receive more than five hours??

Is this just for the reception, or for the ceremony and reception in one place?

If just the reception, it's doable, but not really as long as you might want.

If this is for the entire wedding, I think it's too short, unless you are having a simple wedding with a simple brunch or cake-and-punch reception.

My daughter's reception venue is booked for the entire day, and we will actively have guests/people there for 7.5 hours.

For both reception and ceremony it’s five hours, I agree that sounds to short! Then if people are enjoying themselves do they just cut off the music and say go home? I dont know? Thanks for the repsonse!

You can ask about adding an hour. My venue adds the room fee plus a per person charge if we want the bar open for that time. It's a $300 room fee and $2.95 pp bar charge!

5 hours is a fairly common timeframe for a reception.

My reception is 5 hours and an additional 1/2 hour for the ceremony. I could add more time if I wanted to for an additional cost which means also an additional cost for the dj too to stay more then 5 hours.

Mine is 4 hours for ceremony and reception combined, and I'm freaking out that it's going to be super short. But it's doable.

Anything is doable hun. Like others have said ask about paying for extra time. This was the biggest reason I went with my venue I wanted a space that was going to give me ample time.

My ceremony starts at 12:30 and everyone has to be out by 5. So it happens

My ceremony and reception are 12:30p-5p so 4 1/2 hours. So I think it’s doable but for us we are doing 90% of photos beforehand, it’s brunch, no wedding party, no speeches, no official cake cutting, no bouquet toss, no garter toss...lol you get the picture. We just wanna get married, eat, drink and dance. You could add an hour possibly which may help.

Typical in this area is 1hr for cocktail hour and 4hrs for the reception. My venue gives us an extra hour for the ceremony.

5 hours is a very standard timeframe .
Many places have the option to buy additional time too.
As long as you don’t need that time for set up and breakdown, it seems reasonable to me. The standard package from both my Dj and my Caterer was 5 hours

4 to 5 hours is pretty standard for a reception. Many places allow you to add time for a fee if that’s something you might want. My reception will be 4 hours 7-11. I had the option to add more but I opted out for budget purposes. But I felt it was enough time. I’m also not the big party type so maybe for me that’s why it’s more than enough time. Lol

You could think about planing an after party elsewhere if you feel like the party will still be going!
