Time for a Honeymoon

Jeni, on April 19, 2021 at 10:31 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 5

My fiance' only wants to take a couple of days for our honeymoon and not a whole week. Has anyone taken a few days then a whole week for their honeymoon?

Any Advice

We weren't able to do a whole week. We managed Tuesday-Sunday at Disney/Universal, which was a big deal for us, because of our schedules.

Honeymoons are not a set length - they are the length you want, can afford, and are willing to do.

The bigger questions are - budget, thins you like to do, how far away you can go, and so on.

We aren’t able to do a full week due to my fiancé’s work schedule. We are doing Saturday - Tuesday at the mountains about 30 minutes from us. We are getting married on a Thursday so time is limited for him.

With covid everything got messed up. So after our "real" wedding (we eloped in the backyard last August) we are going to Universal Studios for 4 days. Then in February of next year we are doing 10 days in hawaii.

There are no rules for length or destination for honeymoons. Because they are literally just the first vacation a newly married couple takes together, they can be any type of vacation the couple wants/can afford.

What's important is that you both communicate about what type of vacation you want, and then come to an agreement/compromise that suits you both. So, if you have your heart set on a longer vacation, you should be open about that with your future spouse.

We had a "mini-moon" with a longer honeymoon later. The honeymoon we wanted, which was a cruise, was way cheaper in September versus our July wedding date (like $2000 cheaper!) so we took that later.

We got married on a Wednesday, so we stayed in a hotel in the area where we got married (a city away from our hometown) from Wednesday to Sunday and did things like local museums and restaurants. Honestly, this was a blast. We had a great time. We found places that were off the beaten path or things we wouldn't normally pick to do.

I would pick a destination that is suited to a shorter time period, and I wouldn't go somewhere that required a long travel time (like a 16-hour flight to Japan).
