Just Said Yes September 2021

Tight Budget; 150 guests; Massachusetts

Kelsey, on November 18, 2013 at 11:12 AM Posted in Planning 0 17

I am looking for a venue that I can have both the ceremony and reception at for an affordable cost. We can not really afford more then $20-30pp. Including the taxes. We won't be having a bar at all due to our personal beliefs, and to save money. I'm open to venues in western, central and eastern MA. Also, southern NH.

Hi Kelsey...I would start by clicking on the Vendors tab and start doing your research that way. WW has a lot of good resources and most have clickable websites...for the ones that don't Google the venue name. A lot of the places that I looked into have a link right on their websites with what you cost would be per head. For the ones that don't either e-mail or give a call to see if they'd be willing to send you their price lists.

    Good luck :-)

I live in northeast MA but I wasn't looking for venues that cheap. Check out American legion halls, etc...and see if a local restaurant can cater!

I'd really love an outdoor space. if it's closer to the Boston area I can have my cousin cater it for me.

We are trying to not go over a total of 7000. And even hat's a ton of money for one day.

Here's a couple we considered but didn't end up using, I'm not sure what total cost would end up being though as our plans were slightly different, but some places to start:

    Look Park, Florence, MA http://www.lookpark.org/Garden%20House%20Inquiry%20Packet.pdf

    Winnekenni Castle Haverhill, MA http://www.winnekenni.com/events.html

Francis Farm Rehoboth, MA http://www.francisfarm.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/2013-Francis-Farm-Menu.pdf (you'd have to choose one of the cheaper menus)

    Arrowhead Acres Uxbridge, MA http://www.arrowheadacres.com/weddings-banquets.htm

Fuller Craft Museum Brockton, MA http://fullercraft.org/your-special-event-with-us/

The Harding Allen Estate Barre, MA http://www.harding-allen.com/welcome.shtml (didn't do the math on this one, not sure what it would end up being per person, but it is conveniently all inclusive)

Hi Kelsey. I don't know if you already set a date (I'm on my phone and I can't see) but look at Haverhill CC in Haverhill, MA. It's really pretty, you can do both reception & ceremony there & if you do it off season it's very reasonable & they will work with you to make a menu that fits your budget.

If you're not looking to serve alcohol you could try Rolling Ridge in North Andover. It's an old estate with an outdoor chapel area overlooking a lake "Point of the Pines" is what they call it. Not sure on their rates anymore but I know people who have gotten married there in the past.

My parents got married at the myriad ballroom in mendon. It wasn't what I wanted so I didn't go with it, but their plates are around $30. Google it the menu is online.

I'm in southern nh and the only thing I know of that does functions that might be able to fit 150 people is Jocelyn's in salem. but It's also a martini lounge so i guess that won't work for you. reception halls are very expensive pp around here. Maybe a beach? or a state park?

The old shaker community in New Lebanon has a pavilion up on the mountain, i think its called the Abode now, that would be super cheap, theres cabins also, super basic.

Also, I don't know if you have found a dj yet or are having one but my uncle is a dj and tends to be more affordable than most.

I have 150 guests, that's bare minimum, and I tried finding any way that I could cut down the cost. I'm the bride that thinks realistically that it's one day and all that money could go into a house. Anyways, I looked EVERYWHERE to cut down on the budget. Unless you cut down your guest list, it's never going to happen. I tried looking at so many places, but it always came back to almos the original price of where I wanted to have my wedding. I'm having my wedding at Spinelli's in Lynnfield. Let me just tell you, they include literally everything!!! The only thing I had to get on my own was my photographer. Everything is included in the price I'm paying.
