Thoughts on not having a photobooth

Dania, on December 30, 2019 at 2:15 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 38

I know this is a trend right now and it's a huge hit with guests but our budget is tight and I am wondering if it would really make a difference in our guest's experience at our wedding if we dont have one.

I've been to plenty weddings without one. People will find ways to entertain themselves

I didn't have one. We had a fantastic DJ and people danced all night long.

People will be fine without a photo booth.

Totally fine if you don't have one! Definitely not a necessity, your guests will still have a great time Smiley smile

They are not a requirement. If your budget does not allow for it, I would skip it. You could also look into a DIY photo booth if you’re up for it. I’ve seen those before. Check out Pinterest.

We didn't have one and no one missed it! DJ kept the dance floor packed, and those who didn't dance enjoyed chatting with other people.

I didn’t have one and it was perfectly fine! We were at a very picturesque venue, so people were able to take plenty of selfies and photos on their phones of each other where ever they wanted. And our DJ kept everyone entertained with fun table games. I don’t think anyone missed the photobooth at all.

It isn't a necessity, but we had one and it was a huge hit. Ours was provided by our DJ. Everyone had an amazing time dancing and singing, but they also really enjoyed the photo booth. It gave those that didn't like to dance or wanted a break from dancing something else to do. My DJ also had a book there that people could put their photos in that we then got to keep.

Definitely not necessary! And I would say the big trend to have them was 5 or 6 years ago. I go to more weddings without them than with lately.

I went back & forth with the same thing. I feel like it’s not really a necessity. I’ve seen more weddings without them than with them. Especially if you’re on a tight budget, that money can go towards something else!

Definitely not necessary. I was planning to DIY one but ended up with a photographer who included it in their package for basically the same price it would have been without it (black Friday deal) so we figured we might as well do it. If you feel like you want something, you can buy cute props at Michaels, Amazon, etc. for under $50 and designate a space where people can take their own photos and upload them to a free wedding photo app.

Photobooths are one of those things that are fun to have since everyone usually enjoys them, but are definitely a luxury and not a necessity.

We're skipping one entirely since we don't have the budget. I thought about getting some props and setting up a statement wall as a compromise, but we decided to even forego that. People will have a great time taking their own pictures. Smiley smile

Set up a table with fun dressy things from the dollar store and Walmart (boas, hats, necklaces, ) !! Print off funny faces, mustaches, hashtags and put them on wooden sticks from walmart (like 50 cents each!) Grab up some glass vases/jars from ther dollar store and colored or clear beads/stones. Fill the jars and stick the accessories in the jars. Dress up the table some. Everyone has a phone these days with a camera- they can take their own pictures. No need to spend $400+!!!

I’d say skip the expense if your on a budget, and if you really want then set up a “DIY” photo booth with props and a backdrop so guests can take pictures with their phones, disposable cameras or whatever! We’re skipping the photo booth because of the expense and because of how much room it’ll take up in our reception area.

I've never been to a wedding with one. So that's why I wanted one.
I'm looking forward to it, but it definitely isn't necessary.

I’m opting out of a photo booth. We have a great photographer hired already and I don’t want to take away from the photographs that he’ll be taking. I’d rather have all my guests tearing it down on the dance floor 😂

DIY. I’m making my own. Look on Pinterest for wedding backdrop ideas. Seen one where you can hang strands of ribbon and by big picture frames

One of my coworkers had a photo booth for only 2 hours of her wedding reception. This way people got to participate and it was cheaper than a full reception.

We won’t be having one. They’re so expensive unless they come with the photographer you hire!

I’m not planning on having one at mine. Instead I want to buy a Polaroid camera, with film of course, and have a little area set up for that instead!
