Thoughts on longer sleeves for my dress

Melissa, on February 15, 2022 at 12:00 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 5

Hi everyone!

So I purchased my dress in early January and I am obsessed with it. It comes with detachable off the shoulder tulle sleeves (as pictured) but I was thinking of possibly adding longer tulle sleeves to it? I am getting married in November and where I live it'll be cold in the evening.

I thought I wanted sleeves on my wedding dress but when I tried on this dress, I knew it was the one! Should I just let the sleeve dream go and leave my beautiful dress as is? Also, opinions on a longer (cathedral) veil or a veil that hits right at the elbow? I just wanted to see other people's opinions on it as I'm so indecisive. TIA! Smiley smile

I love the sleeves but I wonder the same since we are in December. My advice was the same given to me. Even with sleeves might still need a coat.

I would leave it as it is - it's beautiful and the sleeves aren't going to keep you very warm, so you're still going to need a wrap or jacket

So, I too wanted sleeves for my wedding dress. I very much understand your dilemma on a personal level!

In my case, the alterations lady added them and they were SO dramatic and I really liked them... but they wouldn't stay up, and overall looked like a bit of an afterthought, so we ended up removing them after all.

Here's what I think. The sleeves you like are beautiful, and if the dress had been made with them originally then... *chef's kiss* Gorgeous! But it wasn't. And trying to fit a square peg through a round hole just might not end up working out, even though the sleeves are beautiful. I'd leave the dress as-is, and buy a wrap or something instead!

I feel like I’ve seen this post before or something similar. Do not touch that dress it is perfect the way it is. I find that those sleeves look best on Sheath or trumpet gowns or couture. You look absolutely amazing don’t change a thing.
