Thoughts on Dress Rental?

Annabelle, on May 20, 2019 at 2:52 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7
Hello all, I’m new to WeddingWire and let me just tell you, I’m having so much fun planning my wedding!! But I feel like it’s really difficult to find cheap options within my budget. Is anyone else feeling like that?
I also decided that I want to rent my dress instead of buying. I was thinking that I could get a better quality dress and not pay the retail price and I don’t really want to have a huge dress in my closet or storage that I’ll only wear one day. I feel like that’s what the pictures/videos are for. But I feel like it is IMPOSSIBLE to find vendors on this website who rent their dresses. Anyone have advice for finding some good quality dress rentals in the DFW area?

I just did a google search and found that A Bridal Closet in the shops at willow glen in Plano rents dresses for $500.

I'm not sure if they do, but have you checked out places like "rent the runway"?

I would be surprised if you are able to find a wedding dress rental. Unlike suit/tux rentals, wedding dresses come in so many styles and require a lot of alterations for each bride that it is most likely not logistically feasible to find a wedding dress rental. Instead, there are many places that sell wedding dresses for a few hundred dollars. For example, David's Bridal often has $99 gowns. Several people have purchased their wedding dress online from Azazie or even Amazon. You could also purchase a formal gown or bridesmaid dress in the color you want to wear. Many places have ivory or white dresses if you planned to wear a more traditional color.

You might want to consider a "pre-owned" wedding dress. Since brides usually only wear their dress once, the ones you find on Pre-Owned sites are like brand new.

There is www.preownedweddingdresses.com and you can also look at Facebook Marketplace in your area. They are usually a lot cheaper this way, since they are used. You may have to get it cleaned, but that's not that big of a deal. I did a search in my area, and just on Facebook, I found 20 dresses for sale.

I initially wanted to rent my dress too but it seemed to be about the same cost as buying one. The other thing I worried about if renting is alterations. Good luck though I hope you find what you're looking for and within your budget!

For my first wedding, I went to a place in LA called “One Night Affair”. It was local for me but I don’t know if they ship. I found a dress that I liked, but ultimately didn’t rent one after all. That was almost 15 years ago and I feel like there are SO many options these days for finding a less expensive dresses to purchase. My plan is to only spend $500 max and then sell or donate it afterward ( donated my first dress about two years after my first wedding because it was only good for taking up space at the top of my closet).
