Thoughts on disposable plates vs rental plates

Taylor, on September 6, 2019 at 8:11 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 8

Hi! My fiance and I are eloping to Iceland but when we return we are having a traditional ceremony at a Maryland State Park. Since it's a park, it's going to be laid-back but I still want it to be beautiful and maybe a rustic elegance? I've attached a picture of the venue below. My question is, what are your thoughts on fancy disposable plates? Are they good quality? Do they look cheap at all? Or should I just go ahead and get rental plates since I have a decent budget for decor? Any thoughts and tips will be much appreciated!

I got fancy looking disposables at Poshpartysupplies. They’re sturdy and have a gold lace border.

I agree with PPs. As long as they look formal, disposables should be fine!

We are planning a cocktail party reception and wanted ease and class. We found really nice disposable plates and cups at Amazon. I think your venue makes good quality disposable a good call.

Sam's Club has nice quality disposable plates that would fit well with your venue, too.

What are you planning on serving? That would be my main determining factor between rental and disposable since the formality of the event doesn't seem to be a problem. If your meal is especially heavy or requires a lot of cutting, I would go for rentals. If it's something that sturdy disposables would be sufficient for, then go for it!

My only advice is don’t use wood! We had friends use wood items at their rustic styles wedding. They were pretty, but all of food at a wood after taste.
