Thoughts on 10/30 being too close to Halloween?

Lauren, on July 1, 2020 at 4:08 PM Posted in Planning 0 6
Hi!! Our current date is 10-10-2020 but because of the current conditions regarding Covid here in FL & our 200 person guest count, we are looking at new dates next year Smiley sad

Has anyone gotten married 10-30? I’m really looking to keep my same theme, colors etc which I think is totally doable- just not sure if being so close to Halloween makes a difference? 🌼🌼🌼🙇🏻‍♀️

It doesn’t make a difference. You don’t have to have any Halloween elements 🙂

I think it would depend on if your area has trick-or-treating on Sundays as Halloween is a Sunday next year. I know some areas don't have it on Sundays which would mean that they would have it on Saturday instead which is 10/30. If that's the case, then I think it would depend on if a lot of your guests have children. Some guests might also think you plan on making the wedding Halloween themed meaning they can wear customs, but I would just make it clear that that's not the case.

I don't think that matters at all! Plenty of people even get married on Halloween and still don't go with Halloween-themed decor or anything!

I do think Veronica has a good point about trick-or-treating though - I'd think about your guest list and how many guests have small kids!

I don't think it matters! We originally wanted a fall wedding but the only date was Halloween so we ended up with an August date. I absolutely did not want a Halloween wedding, but to do it the day before I think it is completely fine! I doubt anyone will say anything or even relate it to Halloween ask long as you don't have those colors or decorations.

We are planning on getting married ON Halloween and doing nothing Halloween themed Smiley smile so I think you're good! I personally don't like Halloween at all but have always dreamed of a fall wedding and it was the only date our venue had available outside of the summer. We're basically planning on ignoring the fact that it is Halloween entirely! (if we can even still have our event... ha ha)

We also put this on our website as an FAQ:

    Question: "What is the attire?"

Answer: "We hope our wedding will be a fun excuse to wear your favorite cocktail attire! While we recognize our wedding is on Halloween, we kindly request that you leave any costumes or themed attire at home."
