Those who Diyed Wedding Invite Suite for Under 100 Guests...

Shannon, on October 15, 2019 at 5:37 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 7

For those who DIYed their wedding invitation suite, were you happy with your decision or did you later regret it?
We're trying to figure out which could be the best route for us: DIY invite using a customizable template or purchasing them from someone.

I'm worried that if we DIY we might get in over our heads. However, it looks like that DIY stationary would help keep our costs low.

I would love to hear about other people's experiences with DIYing their invite suites.

    Hi Shannon,

I went through Zazzle but you can also look into Canva, Vistaprint, Minted or even Etsy. They tend to have all kinds of different sales.

You can also try The Knot for downloadable templates. I hope you find what you're looking for. Good luck and happy planning!

We diy’d via ordering some 4x9 Cream Rack Cards and matching Envelopes, purchasing a stamper and pigment ink, and using Word to create them. We’re now in the process of using the same materials to send Thank you cards with the remaining cards and Envelopes.

I DIY’d mine. It was a pain and took about 8hrs total to get it all done. I spent $100 (including postage) on 40 invites. I splurged on pocket envelopes otherwise it would have been closer to $60 including postage.
If you have the time and enjoy a good project I say go for it! Also, Staples offers a cutting service where they’ll cut them for you (and 8.5 x 11 into 2 5x7) they didn’t tell me about it until after I paid, so i spent hrs cutting!

I DIYed mine and it was so cheap. I found a template and printed it on cardstock and bought envelopes. However I do agree that it would have looked nicer if I got it professionally done. But that's a given

Oh, we do NOT regret the decision to save money on any and everything that we could.

We are making Mortgage payments on 2 homes and mine needs repairs. I found out that I was bring displaced from my job 4 months before the Wedding and was displaced 2 months and 9 days before we got married.

We purchased cardstock off of amazon, got envelopes from hobby lobby, and purchased a template from Etsy. Ended up being $18 for our save the dates not including stamps. We printed envelopes and cardstock on our home printer turned out better than I hoped.

We printed ours at home on regular paper. I know it isn't fancy but it fits our theme and we made sure that our invitation template would print out and cover the full page so we didn't have to spend forever cutting extra paper! We made 30 invitations and it wasn't bad, time wise. We had bought a 500 pack of printer paper previously for $5 and we used maybe 1/3 of the black ink but I doubt it was even that much. If invitations looking a certain way is important, it's probably easier to buy some. If you're not particular about the paper that tells your guests info and they won't have 6 months after the wedding, it's a great way to keep things cheap!
