Thinking of having my brother and mom walk me down the aisle

Sarah, on May 25, 2017 at 11:48 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 1 14

So I am trying to decide on just my younger brother walking me down the aisle. I'm close with my mom and she raised me. I already asked my brother and he said he would be honored. I just feel bad that I didn't ask my mom. I feel like she is feeling left out. Would it be weird if I had my brother and mom walk me down the aisle?

It is not weird at all. My mom raised me and she is walking me down the aisle. I have an older brother that I can ask but I don't want to because it really belongs to my mom who was both my mother and father growing up. As long as you are happy, don't consider anything that weird. Unless it's something really offensive lol. Cheers to the strong moms though.

It's a very personal decision and entirely up to you. Nothing weird about it if you want them both to walk you down.

Its your wedding what you decided is what should be. Cant no one else tell you how to do your wedding. Do whats make you happy. At the end of the day its about you and your fiance. Yes let them walk you. My brother walking with me hopefully him and my dad

I think that sounds really nice!

i am walking with my mom. i always think its kind of silly that people feel like they have to ask a male family member to do it. no one was more involved in raising me and supporting me throughout my life than my mom! i want her to be by my side on my wedding day.

I agree with PPs. Not weird and a lovely way to include them both.

Love this idea! as PPs have said - this is really your decision. I've seen so many different itterations of who walks the bride down the aisle (or she even walks by herself, imagine that!!!)

    I don't think it's weird at all. I think it's very wonderful.

Both my parents walked with me. I'm on the side that you don't need a male relative, to walk you down the aisle.

I started singing at weddings 15 years ago, and walking with both parents, or brother/mother in your case, has become the norm.

I had both brothers walk me down. My father passed a few months before the big day and I did not want to walk alone, even though I was already married early in Dad's hospital room.
