Thinking about eloping

Victoria, on February 26, 2020 at 10:07 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 5
My fiancé and I have hit a heavy financial blow lately and having a wedding (even our $2000 wedding we had planned) is now out of budget. I haven’t been very happy with the wedding we had planned (lots of relatives I’ve never met) and my parents are very disinterested. My question is, how do you go about breaking the news to loved ones that you have eloped and there will be no wedding?

Send out marriage announcements after you are married.

If the date is correct on your page, you have well over a year. $2000 wouldn’t be doable in that time span? If not, I would just elope and either post it on social media or send out announcements.

Elope and then send out “We Got Married! Come celebrate our elopement with us.” And just have a dinner at your home or go out to eat. Something simple that won’t cost a lot.

Send out announcements afterwards. No need for any type of reception, just enjoy being married.

Our landlord is selling the house and she was only charging half of what the norm in the area would be. Our rent is about to double
