Things to do besides dancing

mrsbigtexas, on October 18, 2017 at 4:54 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

FH and I are going a little non traditional with our reception. Instead if a big affair, we are having a smaller restaurant reception. There will still be food and drinks but we won't be doing the whole DJ dancing thing. I would still like to do speeches and hire a musician to play throughout the evening, but other than that is there any other activities we should plan? I've seen people do the newlywed shoe game or something similar but would that be fun?

    Drinking and conversation. No games.

^^that. Please don't make your guests play games. A dinner party with good food and alcohol will be enough entertainment for your guests.

At a smaller restaurant reception? God no. Everything else you're doing is enough. Most might leave right after dessert is served, or continue to mingle. That's enough.

If there is no dancing I would just say food and conversation. But if your crowd is into games and such, maybe you can add them. Either way, it probably won't last long after dinner.

What you've planned is absolutely fine, and what I see most of the time at my restaurant weddings. By nature of most people knowing each other, they'll enjoy the time to chat and drink and eat. You're good!
