Things that might slip your mind?

Cora, on August 14, 2020 at 2:09 PM Posted in Planning 1 8

Hi everyone! My fiance and I have plenty of time to plan for our wedding (October 2021), but I want to start getting organized and getting some ideas for the wedding. Aside from the common vendors and the common decorations you will need to decide on (flowers, centerpieces, table settings, etc.), what are some things that might get overlooked or forgotten about? Or, what are some extra additions to your weddings that are "nice-to-haves?" Trying to start my list now so I don't stress about forgetting something when it gets closer!

This is such a small thing aha but it’s a detail I was fixated on - timing of the brides walk song aha. I wanted my walk to start right at a certain moment so I timed it with the song during rehearsals to know how long it would take aha

A day of emergency kit with things like safety pins, makeup wipes, a Tide to-go pen, etc. Pens or markers for your guest book, designate someone to hand out tips, plan out meals for wedding party while getting ready.

I made an excel spreadsheet for planning and one of my tabs is a to-do list. I broke it down by month and then on the side typed everything I could think of that I will need to do from now until the wedding. Then in the month of the wedding I broke it down by week. I looked at a bunch of different wedding websites and blogs to see what their timelines said because a lot of them contradict each other for when to do what. Once I got an idea I put my to do list in the months I need to complete the task. Since it’s a google doc when I have an idea for something to do that I don’t want to forget I’ll add it to my little list then figure out which month to do it in later. It really helps keep me organized and think of little things that I might have missed before. (playlist for morning of, making sure our dogs have all of their shots before boarding them for the wedding, the house is clean before people arrive, etc) I kinda got a little too organized to help the stress stay down. Lol

This isn’t a small detail, but it’s one we are dealing with at the last minute because of Covid restrictions in our state—rehearsal dinner. We are three weeks out and it was very tense about what the groom side of the family was able to do, where our plan b location would be, etc. My mom and aunt ended up handling it. There was just a lot of back-and-forth we didn’t work through ahead of time.

Tips is another one. I’ve remembered to discuss it with my mom (she pays her vendors I pay mine) but have it worked out before hand.
Think about if you want kids there or not. If so, think about things with them in mind (food, timeliness of photos, coloring books).
Jamie wolfer on YouTube has AMAZING wedding planning videos. Highly recommend her.

I nearly forgot to get "pretty" hangers for dress shots - ordered them (the satin ones, for formal wear) on Amazon Prime four days before the wedding
