themeless? colorless?

Kaitlyn , on March 23, 2015 at 4:04 PM Posted in Planning 0 37

We have no theme or color sceme were going with..i mean, were following a more Celtic path as far as cemony. The handfasting requires certain colors based on the vows your choose, and the hopes for your marriage. But a theme? Our theme is wedding. Lol our colors are the backdrop of the forest. Decorations are even At a bare minimum. Should/does this matter? I guess I just don't care enough about those little details. I don't want a hot mess, but I don't care for the other crap even more. Lol I've noticed more and more people with a don't give a shit attitude lately...anyone else out there leaving those things out, or should I put a bit more thought to it all?

A lot of people don't have themes. I guess ours is a "fall" theme but that's such a broad term that I don't really consider it our theme.

You don't need a theme. A color scheme may be a little important for things like what the BP will be wearing. But it seems like you have some ideas in mind. Go with the colors for your vows and run with them.

I left the theme out, but did choose colors. Picking colors have helped me make things for the wedding and make decisions for other aspects. That way I have a direction I'm going in.

    I don't have a theme. I just wanted soft/elegant colors. That's it.

    I don't have a theme, and I don't have colors.

Frankly, picking two or three colors looks dated to me.

Our color is plum simply because I love purple and FH said he'd be fine with whatever color I pick, but I don't know what I'd consider our "theme." Your post made me laugh because I always tell people our theme is wedding whenever they ask! Why do we need a theme....?

You don't need a theme. As long as you're happy with how things look, everyone else will be, too. I don't like it when everything is too color coded and matchy matchy.

@crane that's what spurred this post.. Words gotten out in my small town that were getting married (not a secrect, but we weren't inviting the whole town) and the grocery store lady asked what our theme was!

I didn't pick colors or a theme, and I found that I had some difficulty when it came time to communicate to the florist what I wanted. I realized that it would have been better if I'd thought of some of the colors I'd like to have, because the flower choices will essentially be the color scheme at my wedding, as I won't have a lot of decorations. I started by telling her I wanted a soft, romantic look, but that I realized that communicated pastel colors, which wasn't really what I envisioned. I would recommend at least having a "feeling" that you're going for so that there is some continuity.

FH and my mom have decided our theme is Breanna. Whatever Breanna wants Breanna gets. I like it (; lol

That sounds fine to me. If you don't want to worry about colours and decorations then don't worry about them.

I finally just threw together a pinterest board to show people the "feel" that I'm going for. I just picked colors that I liked for dresses/flowers/etc. Obviously they don't clash but the rules are pretty broad.

Are you having a bridal party? what dresses are they wearing? Are all your table cloths/napkins/centerpieces/flowers white? if so, then white is your color lol, it's impossible to not have any color in a wedding

Mine has a theme, rustic, but it evolved from the location we picked, which was NOT picked for it's theme, and out of decor i actually like. I didn't make a conscious effort to be rustic, other than having planter boxed for flowers and a couple mason jars, those were conscientious decisions based on the location.

I think a 'Wedding' theme is perfect! haha

No theme here either. The only color I have is my bridesmaid dresses, which is Claret (dark reddish). All flowers will be white. Table cloths will be a mocha color.

We don't gave a theme. Our colors are guava and navy because those are the colors of dresses my BMs picked and accents of gold because I got gold shoes. You don't need to make it a thing.

@E=mc no bridal party so yep..more ivory than white Smiley smile but I guess the issue I've ran into is that I don't have a color choice for the tables. Because I don't just want funky tables, and I don't want it to clash with nature. So no hot pink? Haha I guess we'll see what color stands out while choosing our handfasting colors and see how it fits into the decor ideas?
