There are a lot of good reasons to get married but there are equally as many reasons not to get married.

What do you consider the worst reason to get married?

    The worst for me is getting married to solve problems in the relationship. Marriage won't just make those issues disappear!

    1. "It's the right thing to do" - re: pregnancy

    2. As Cher said, to solve problems in the relationship (...they will get worse, congrats!)

    3. Because your family expects it/demands it

    4. Because you've been together "long enough"

    5. Because you're "getting old" (...usually said by someone in their late 20s)

    6. Because it's the next thing to check off your list

    The first one REALLY gets my goat, because whatever relationship you model to your kids is the relationship they think is ok/deserved/right - and if you don't really love each other, or resent each other, your kids WILL KNOW.

    A healthy co-parenting relationship is infinitely preferable to a marriage between people who are only in it "for the kids".

    An UNhealthy co-parenting relationship is STILL preferable to a marriage between people who are only in it "for the kids".

    The kids will sense that tension every single time, and it will mess them up.

    👏👏👏 I completely agree. Whatever issues you had as a couple are the same issues you'll have as a married couple.

    Yes! This one is crazy, especially because weddings are so expensive.
