The Venetian in New Jersey

weddingdiva2016, on July 8, 2017 at 9:50 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 4

I recently was invited to a wedding at the Venetian in New Jersey. I'm actually from New York and typically I would wear a knee length cocktail dress to a wedding. However, I've heard that this place is very very upscale and it was suggested that I wear a long dress! The invitation does not give any dress code specifications. Has anyone ever been to this place? I just ordered a gorgeous gown from lulus today but I don't want to be over dressed. Also, does anyone know what the cost of the average plate at this place is? I want to make sure I give an adequate gift!

It looks like from their website (http://www.venetiannj.com/weddings.html#features/11) that they have a lot of the hallmarks of a black tie wedding. Can you check with the bride and groom?

I've been there a number of times. I have seen people in long and short dresses; I think you'd be fine with either but I don't think it's possible to be overdressed....

The cost per plate thing is a fallacy. Give as you are moved and able.

Thanks! Yeah I guess it's never a bad thing to be over dressed and I like to be generous with my gifts. Smiley smile

Never been there but from the photos I have seen, that looks like a beautiful venue!
