The Online Shopping Craze

Brittanie, on July 8, 2019 at 11:44 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 6

Anybody tried ordering your wedding gown online? My bridesmaids would be fine doing this because of the pricing as long as we get their sizing done correctly and then just alter it when it comes in, but dare I look online for thee dress; the #1 outfit that every guest and service person will be dying to see at the wedding??

Don't get me wrong, I want the WHOLE experience of dress shopping. I already have 6+ appointments made at bridal salons for trying on all day long but I won't lie, the dresses that I'm interested in are definitely gonna be way outta my budget, so these online prices are lookin like rose-colored miracles lol.

I'm focusing on getting some of this weight off my stomach in the next 10 months (I'm 5'4" fluctuating between 150-160lbs) because my dress choices are all fitted mermaids with LOTS of lace and details, and of course a small train. So needless to say the ones I like topically run at about $2k or so, but are somehow obtainable online for $400 or less including customizations, add-ons and takeaways, etc. This is why I feel like I'm seeing them through rose-colored glasses. It's totally sketch, but my curiosity kills me. I know a lot of scam sites post THEIR OWN 5 star reviews, which is 100% messed up for such an important purchase, and a lot of them have and utilize the ability to delete the reviews they don't like (including the truthful bad reviews).

I don't think I'll end up doing it, but on the off chance that I don't find "the one" at 6+ different salons for less than my budget, I'd still like to know if anyone else has had any luck?

My wedding dress is from Azazie! They allow you to try on sample dresses so I ordered 3 and ultimately ordered one of those! They also do custom sizing for no extra charge! I ended up just buying one of their standard sizes but I've heard good things from their cutom sizing. My dress unded up being $500 which for the quality I think is pretty amazing!! If you search in the forums here for Azazie there have been a few other brides who got their wedding dresses from there as well.

Yes!! I've heard a ton of great things about Azazie even just earlier today, so I've started looking on there for me and my BMs!

I would advise against getting a dress from a Chinese website selling the "same" dress as a designer for a fraction of the cost. Those dresses usually look nothing like the picture when they come in (I've heard a ton of horror stories from people that went this route). My seamstress warned against getting a cheap dress online from a Chinese site as well because the quality usually isn't great, and that makes the alterations cost a lot more due to having to "fix" the dress.

I got my dress from another bride on Facebook Marketplace. She bought 2 dresses from a boutique and decided not to wear the one I bought. If you're going to order a dress online, you could get one from another bride who's selling hers. I got a stunning mermaid style dress with tons of lace, beading, and ruffles that was a lot less expensive because the girl just needed to recoup some of her money. Other sites you can look on that are reputable: preownedweddingdresses.com, stillwhite.com, tradesy.com, and poshmark. Hope this helps!

As long as you use a reputable site like Azazie, it should be fine! Just be careful of the websites that are based out of China/use cheap materials. They often misrepresent their product and send something completely different.

Agreed. I definitely don't trust unknown sites for something this important, especially if they don't have reviews that have photos in them. I actually have a few saved on Facebook too, they just aren't quite what I'm looking for. I still have about 11 months though so I check it pretty regularly. Thank you so much for the suggestions!

I got mine online. Definitely use websites where you can see customer reviews preferably if there are any that have photos of customers in it.
I also advise you to actually first go in person to a place and see what you like already that you know looks good on you in terms of styles so it narrows it down. look at return policies too just in case.
