The "nos" Come Later... right?

Mandi, on January 24, 2020 at 11:28 AM Posted in Planning 0 11
Sent out our invites a week ago and discovered our spreadsheet didn't count everyone... and we over invited by approximately 45 people. We've recieved 15 RSVPs back already... and they are all YES. And while so far 3 kiddos are getting sent to the babysitters, we've still got 42 people we hope will decline our invite. (We can get by with only 32 more people doing this. But 42 is what we're crossing our fingers for.) We're fairly certain we have 2 more nos, and 12 more probably nos. But curious about your experience.

Did the nos slowly start to trickle in after the first week or two?

We got a few "no" RSVPs within the first two weeks, but the rest came towards the end of our RSVP period (or after the date when we had to contact them).

We only got 13 no’s... and they were ones we knew about ahead of time, but still had to invite. I would start making a plan to accommodate the extra people, just in case.

So far we've had everyone say "yes" to us as well!

Luckily we didn't over-invite so I don't really mind if everyone says yes but there's some people we invited just to be nice because there would be family drama if they weren't included lol. So I'm kind of hoping those people say no.

I think we'll be looking at about 10 no's if I had to throw a guess out there but then again a couple of the people who RSVP'd yes I was thinking they'd say no lol.

We thought we would get more no's than we did but out of 68 invites, we only got 3 no's. Keep your fingers crossed and good luck!

I think you should call your venue right away and explain your dilemma. It’s not likely that you will have that many people say no.

We rented a second room to set up as a lounge to play bags and what not and I own enough white plastic tables to accommodate 40ish people. We'd just have to find table cloths and rent a few chairs. So not a huge deal.
We're hoping several more people choose to leave their kids at home.

We rented a second room and have enough tables to accommodate the extras. We just would have to find table coverings and chairs for those people. Gonna cross our fingers that several people follow the trend of finding a babysitter.

Good to know! We overestimated how many people were in each party, so I'm not too freaked out yet.

    Update:
We have 3 nos. (A total of 5 people)
12 kids being left with a sitter.3 people who opted to not bring dates.
Now just hoping for another 15-25 kids to be left with baby sitters!
