Awww I love this!! Not seeing each other for an entire week will definitely make for an emotional reunion at the altar!

We are staying together. Our wedding is in PA and we lkve in MD so we are 6 hours from where tbe wedding will be. We got a hotel. The main thing he didn't want was to see me in my dress before the wedding, but seeing me in my PJs as he does every morning isn't as big a deal, lol

Interesting, I’ve never heard of staying a part for a week without communicating. What religion is this associated with?

Please educate 😃 I love learning about new religions and cultures!

All of my modern orthodox Jewish friends have done this before their weddings. It's customary for the bride and groom to not see each other for a full week before the wedding in orthodox Judaism

Yes, separate is tradition, but I've been noticing the increase in couples sleeping together the night before. Thanks for sharing.

I feel ya. We plan to marry about 6 hours away from our location as well. I'm trying to decide on if I should go the hotel route or an airbnb.

His daughters (14 and 17) and I are staying at a hotel (the one we have our hotel block with). My sister is also staying at the hotel, and our Hair/make up team will be getting us ready in the hotel suite. He will stay at our house.

We're Jewish :-). Traditionally we're apart for the week with no communication (I can like tell my friend to text him a message if needed). The first time we see each other is at a ceremony right before the actually wedding called a "bedeken". Obviously not everyone does it or it's just not necessary but we feel like we want to do it. Especially now that we've had all this time together will be good to have the anticipation!

We did the hotel block thing and so we got the king suite for ourselves. The hotel is something we are splurging on because we wanted something nice for us/not to sleep at his parents at all for any of the days we will be there 😂 air b&bs aren't a thing there either, it's entirely too middlen of nowhere-y for that lol! But if you can find one for you, they are usually cheaper! Good luck!

Is it custom in your culture's wedding ceremony for the bride to walk a circle around the groom seven times?

Yep! although I've had some friends make it more progressive and take turns walking around each other....

We did that. I circled him 3 times, he circled me 3 times, and then we circled each other for the 7th. I've seen it both ways though

We spent the night together and even had breakfast the next day with family. Once I went with my sister and mom to get our hair done, I didn’t see him until the ceremony. Both our families worked hard to make sure we got to our ceremony without seeing each other Smiley smile
