The Knot.com sending out requests for RSVP's?

Jessica, on May 2, 2017 at 9:05 AM Posted in Planning 0 14

So I received some emails from the Knot.com about some people accepting RSVP to our wedding.

We did not set this up, and people I don't even know are accepting to come! Luckily our wedding information isn't on there- just the date.

Has this happened to anyone?

How did they get a hold of some of my contacts?

I did put some info into the Knot.com but never set anything up about RSVP'ing..... never entered Guest information..... just my name and the date of my wedding. Does the knot.com get access to my email contacts or something? I turned off the RSVP'ing option on the site but I don't know how to delete the whole thing... haven't found that option.

That's strange... are you saying you used them for your wedding website? Honestly, as long as you can tell who it is that's RSVP'ing I'd be happy that people are RSVP'ing at all.

Does the Knot have an app? If they do, have you signed in and used it?

No, they are not the website we made for our wedding website. We used Minted.com

Some people I know and that are invited- rsvp'd and then there are some people I do not know that accepted the RSVP- but I assume they are in my email contacts ( I work a lot through email, I have a million contacts)

Just wondering if there is some fine print that says the Knot is able to access my email contacts- I tried to look into it but didn't find anything...

I have had no problems with ransoms RSVPing to my wedding through The Knot.

Did you have the "Secure RSVP" option marked? With that, only people on your guest list can rsvp online.

My first thought is that people are trying to RSVP for a different wedding and selected yours by accident. Try searching for yours and FH's names and see if there are weddings by others with the same name.

There is an option in The Knot's website that allows you to restrict RSVP's to only those that are listed in your guest list. I recommend turning that on as well.

You know what....I think this is what happened to me with a handful of guests...our website was from the knot...I specifically did not turn on the online RSVP option, did not make it an option to guests etc...and somehow still had a few RSVPS (from actual guests) come in that way but they weren't people I was close enough to just ask why/how they did it that way..

I have never entered anyones name under guests. The only things I put on there was my name and wedding date. I haven't signed up for anything...... I'm not sure how anyone's name is under the guests. I did turn off the RSVP option.

I haven't been on the Knot for 2 years and just started getting notifications about RSVP's.

On our wedding website ( through Minted) has NO options to RSVP online.

This is just very strange to me.

I had a freak out with the knot yesterday! We ended up turning "off" the RSVP because people were inviting additional guests (outside of their plus one) and we haven't even sent out the official invitations, only save the dates! I would be aware that the Knot automatically gives guests and keys people write more people in or RSVP for more. Granted, we are giving plus ones and inviting couples as a social unit (duh) but it was letting people invite multiple! Luckily I caught it before it got out of hand and we will adjust accordingly. I would turn it off and have people RSVP the old fashioned way.

I would probably go to The Knot's online forum, and reach out to their technical support instead of WW.

Unless you have the secure RSVP activated, where only those on your guest list can RSVP, anyone can RSVP when you allow online RSVPs. I would turn on the secure RSVP to limit people RSVP'ing to only those on your guest list, or deactivate the RSVP completely if you don't want anyone to RSVP online.

Hi Jessica! I strongly suggest reaching out to the customer service team at The Knot to figure this out.

Since I work at WW and can see your full name on the back-end of your account, I was easily able to google "(your name) wedding website" and your website on The Knot popped right up. My best guess is that when you initially created that website that they automatically enable open RSVP options, and that your guests found this website through a google search and RSVPed there.

I'm happy to talk about why WW is better than our competitor Smiley smile, but I sincerely doubt they accessed your email contacts or pro-actively contacted anyone on your behalf. It would make much more sense to have a forgotten website that had an open RSVP option! Reach out to the support team at The Knot (help@theknot.com) and talk to them directly about removing your wedding website.

Our website is on the Knot and o haven't had this issue. I have the RSVP turned off until invites go out. I also selected the option that only those on my guest list can RSVP to eliminate uninvited guests or additional plus ones that I didn't intend.
