I just received the biggest blessing. My FH and I are very broke college students and we are having a super bargain wedding. 80 people for only $5,000. I wasn't even going to get a wedding dress, I was going to wear my grandmothers dress that barely fits and doesn't look very good on me. As we started planning more, I decided on doing almost everything DIY, everything down to napkins just to cut costs. My in laws could definitely see us struggling. We were letting go of things we really wanted to do (cheesecake, a wedding dress, and a cocktail hour namely) and they could see us (attempting to) handle it with a fair amount of grace. We knew we didn't have any money and although it was frustrating at times, all that matters is that we are marrying the love of our lives in front of all of those we love. It doesn't matter if we eat sheet cake and all of the plates are plastic.
Long story short, my in laws decided to gift us the entire $5,000 budget. They agreed to pay for everything. I was *not* expecting that at all. They are supportive but neither my FH or I were expecting anybody to be paying for our wedding but us. It is truly such a blessing and a huge weight off of our shoulders. We only have to worry about our bills now and no longer have to stress over saving up half of our paychecks anymore. I am so thankful and I just had to share it. I plan on paying it forward when my future children get married so that they know what it's like to be blessed when you need it most!
Thanks for hearing me ramble! Happy wedding planning!
