The forecast says rain...

Nikki, on October 27, 2015 at 1:33 PM Posted in Planning 0 17

So... my wedding is in five days (!!) and the forecast says rain. In California. Where we have a drought. The zip code of our venue is 94582. You will see (on some sites) that the only day with rain is Sunday. There's a backup plan for our outdoor ceremony should it rain; it's not as pretty but it'll do. I'm more worried about not getting any good photos... Has anyone had rain and still gotten decent photos out of it? I love my photographer for her wonderful outdoor shots and I'd hate to not be able to get any of that. I'm not freaking out, I'm just becoming sad thinking things might turn out much differently than planned. If I heard from some WWers who dealt with rain it might make me feel more hopeful. Thanks!

Our forecast also said rain and I panicked all week. We had a backup plan, but nothing I was super crazy about. It ended up raining, but thankfully it held off until our ceremony and photos were done. Don't freak out yet! Our forecast changed probably 6-7 times during the course of the week. Good luck! It'll be beautiful no matter what!

You still have 5 days, I bet it will change. Mine said rain too up until the day before. Then it changed to just sprinkles in the morning. It rained until about noon and then the sun came out and it was gorgeous. I wouldn't worry until you are at the day before and it says rain all day. Hoping for the best for you.

But I do know and have seen some ladies on here with gorgeous rain pics. Buy an umbrella, clear ones at target for $20. DH did that and we obviously just returned it but just in case.

Same thing! We had all rain predicted on our day for the first time in a month. But it ended up being a gorgeous 70 degree day. Weather changes and crossing my fingers for you.

However, my brother and sister in law got married and it rained. The ceremony was moved inside instead on the beach. Sad but in the end you are still getting married! They got some awesome pics by the ocean though with lightning in the background Smiley smile

Overcast skies actually create some beautiful lighting for pictures. I'm sure the forecast will change, but don't be alarmed if it doesn't. just get some adorable colorful Wellies to wear for pictures, some fun umbrellas, and make sure your MUA uses waterproof makeup.

Thanks all. I actually do have some very cute rainboots so... hopefully all is not lost if it does rain in terms of photos. I asked FH about getting umbrellas and he said we should wait another day or two, to see if the forecast changes more. Hopefully we have some good luck!

Don't freak out! A lot can change between now and Sunday. And even if it does end up raining, the likelihood of it being a complete washout all day long is slim to none. An experienced photographer will be able to sneak you two outside for photos when the rain lets up.

I'll also tell you that I wish I had gotten just rain on my wedding day! I got married during all of the flooding in Charleston, SC, and my venue shut down. We had to move our wedding to the rental house we were staying in and had less than 5 hours to do so. And guess what? I got some amazing shots.

The most important thing is that your loved ones are there and you get to marry the love of your life!

Get some umbrellas. Rain makes some of the best lighting for photos.

How early is your wedding? Dublin shows PM rain, so if it's early enough you might be able to get in some shots before it begins.

El Nino just had to be this year..

Dont panic! Us californians know how much the weather changes! The past couple of weeks the forcast called for rain and it barely did if it did and it was mostly at night! Usually the rain will only come for a little bit!

Serious!! I feel like a terrible Californian wishing for no rain on wedding days BUT I can't help it! About two years ago a friend got married in Laguna Beach and it drizzled and it was fine, a scotch cold with the wind and being near the ocean, but doable.

@Nikki - You can get some SUPER amazing photos in the rain .... your photographer will know what to do if she's a pro Smiley smile I know it's not ideal, but you can definitely make it fun, even adding some rainy-weather props!

Just checked weather for commute reasons and it looks like this area is down to a 20% chance of rain from 80%!

Can you change the getting ready time so if needed you and FH can do a first look at any time during the day when it's not raining?
