The dress - who did you show photos to?

So I said yes to the dress today!! I’m curious on how much sharing everyone did before the big day? Like, who did you show photos to? Did you keep a complete secret? I brought two of my fashion forward friends, and my MOH. Do I show my mom? MIL to be? Sisters? I of course want to show EVERYONE......

I didn't show photos to anyone, the only people who know what my dress looks like are the people who were at the boutique with me (my mom, stepmom, my 2 MOH & 2 of my bridesmaids) ... everyone else will wait until my big wedding to see

How exciting! My mom, sister and two young nieces were with me when I found my dress. They are the only ones who’ve seen it other than WeddingWire. I don’t plan on showing anyone else until my wedding day.

My mom and sister were with me when I bought it. I also showed my bridesmaids, two of my aunts, my grandma, a few coworkers, and my hair stylist. I would've shown everyone if I could, lol - I was (and still am) obsessed with my dress.

I shopped alone but FaceTimed my mom and MOH. My sales associate took a few pics of me, which I’ve never shared with anyone. However, I did show the model pic of the dress to anyone who asked. The dress really didn’t look like the photo in real life, which was a plus.

I had a sort of unique situation. My mom and MOH live several states away and were not able to go dress shopping with me, so I brought the wife of one of our groomsmen when I made an appointment at a local bridal shop. She took photos of all the dresses for me and was amazing to go shopping with, but I ended up buying a completely different dress off StillWhite. When it came in and I tried it on at home, I sent the photos to my best friend/MOH, the girl who went dress shopping with me, and my mom.

I had the dress for several months and really wanted someone to see the actual dress, so I had a girls night with a couple of my coworkers when my then fiance was away on a business trip, and they came over after to see the dress and I tried it on for them. They ended up being the only people who saw the actual dress itself before the wedding day.

We were forced to have a mini Covid elopement, so even though we are married and I love the photos from our wedding, I only shared all those photos with the 8 guests we had plus my husband's sister (who couldn't attend), and showed a handful more to a few additional people because I still kind of want the dress to be a surprise when we have our bigger celebration. I only shared one photo on social media, and it's from the back and thighs up, so many details of my dress are still a mystery to 80% of our 60-80 person guest list. Granted there are some other photos out there - like the ones I've posted here or that our photographer shared on their social media accounts - but in general I didn't want a whole lot of people to see photos of my dress before seeing the real thing.

I didn’t bring anyone with me to the shop and found the dress in my first fitting. First thing that I did was call my sister and go to her house to show the dress off. I then sent photos to my mom, best friend from high school, best friend from college and my bridesmaids.

Do what feels right for you. I showed the people that know me well and have the same excitement as I do when it comes to these types of victories. Finding the dress is a powerful feeling. Share it with the people who empower you.

I ordered my dress online and have shown pics of me in it to my sister and MOH, along with my cousin (she's like a big sister to me) and a couple people at work. My two daughters and my seamstress are the only people to have seen it in person. 😉

I brought my sister shopping with me, so obviously she saw. Then I texted my mom, who was with one of her best friends, and I texted a good family friend who I call my aunt. I of course, texted my best friend. Other than that, over time, my florist, my hair/makeup person, my regular hair stylist, and some coworkers have seen pictures.

I showed pictures to my bridesmaids and mom. Fiancé's parents (at least his mom) did see it. My dad has not seen it and doesn't want to until the day of, and of course, fiancé has not seen it. So basically only my girlfriends, but I also had them help through text on what they thought about each one as I tried them on. A few people at work have also seen it, but it's likely they will not be at the wedding anyway.

I think my bridesmaids are going to be the ones to see it and my parents. Or maybe just my mom as my dad doesn't really participate in all the preparations. I'm planning to have a dress casting anyways and take a lot of photos with different options, so that much later I could remember them all Smiley laugh might as well go with a smartshow 3d slides about it, but it may be a little too extra haha

Show it to people who show interest in seeing it.

I had my fiancé and parents with me to pick the dress, and was "virtually" including my in-laws-to-be and MOH in the process of choosing, as well. So, lots of people knew.

That said, DON'T show to anyone who has in the past been critical/negative at "the worst time" or is generally insensitive, since you've actually purchased the dress at this point!! Do not trust them to be nice and give you what you need in this moment, if they haven't in the past! It will just make you want to return the dress and you don't need that!!!

I haven't been dress shopping yet, but I'm bringing my mom, FMIL, MOH, and maybe one more person. Those will all see the dress. I'm letting it be a surprise for everyone else! I'm taking 'first look' pictures with my bridal party the day-of so I want all of their expressions to be genuine!

Knowing me, I'll get super excited and antsy the more my bridal party ask me about it haha! So I'll probably send them pictures of all the dresses I've tried on, but not tell them which one I chose just to make things a little mysterious for them lol.
