The Dod says the groom can't attend his own wedding venue.

We just got word that as of July 27, 2020, the Department of Defense has ruled that (among Many others) my fiance cannot travel more than 60 miles from his residence (the wedding venue is a two hour drive from home), AND cannot be in a room with more than 10 people, Even With social distancing. Waiting for our venue to call us back, so I can tell them that the DoD says he can't attend his own wedding, and we want to just see if we can get a gift certificate or something for the thousands we spent at the venue, so we can have the wedding there at a later date. Hoping and praying they'll be willing to work with us, especially as they'd stated earlier that we couldn't move the date, or we'd lose all the money we spent there.

When did they do that?!? My sister in law and my brother are both in the military. One is coming from Hawaii and the other from Georgia!

Wow! Do they have a solution for you or just postpone indefinitely? Hope everything works out!

Would it be possible for him to attend and quarantine for two weeks following the wedding before going back to work?

Good luck girl. Hopefully your venue is more sane than ours and works with you. 😟

July 29 (sorry, I thought it had said the 27th, this came out:
Not ALL bases are included in this- there's a list in there that covers which ones are, but he was told his entire office is all under 'shelter in place' orders.

We're Active Duty Too. This Applies To Us As Well. It Sucks Terribly. I Hope They Refund You Or Let You Postpone.

The Venue is Giving Us a TOTAL REFUND!!!
I just spoke with them today and signed their paperwork, stating that essentially, due to COVID-19 restrictions, they are agreeing to cancel our wedding and return all monies paid to them for our event.
I explained to them that we'd be fine with them holding the $, if we could have the right to an up to two-year postponment (just in case!). They said thanks, but they basically didn't want to be responsible for holding it, & they'd rather just do a total refund. Thank you Maymont!!!I still definitely want to get married there, some day.Thank you all, So Much for your support and good wishes!!

Oh no! Terrible news, but so glad the venue gave you back your money. The reason we ended up eloping in DC was because my husband couldn't drive down to NC where I live because of the DOD travel restrictions. However, now he is allowed local leave of up to 250 miles so he can come down here for a visit soon.
