I personally don't mind it. If I were always called wifey, maybe I wouldn't love it, but overall I see nothing wrong with it. It's no different than hubby in my opinion.

I think it's like baby talk, or saying hubby. It doesn't bother me either way but if someone said it all the time I might get tired of it.
Although I have seen people call their partners wifey/hubby without getting married and would suspect that's why some people don't like it if they're married. Might depend on your social circle too.

Do you think that people who are not actually married should call each other wifey and hubby?

It's not for me but if it's not my relationship then it's not bothering me.
I do know in states with common law marriage it can be seen as proof of such. I guess I'd just suggest thinking before using it.

I personally think it sounds childish. It’s not for me, but I don’t see an actual issue with it.

My mother-in-law has always hated the term wifey so I thought I'd get other perspective on it.

I could see how a husband could use it with his wife to sound cute but I would never allow my husband to introduce me to anyone as his wifey.

I hate the name Wifey. Don’t know why. Maybe on some level it sounds demeaning? Sorry those who do like it. But, I don’t.

For me it's frequently associated with men who have been with women for a while and won't give them a ring but they call the women "wifey" to make the women feel like the relationship is stronger than what it is.
Although that is not 100% of the time, it has been 90% of the time when I've heard men use it with other women.

I think it’s a cultural thing. As in I don’t hear anyone my age or older using the term wifey, only younger people. I don’t care for it, but I’m also not a cool kid so what do I know? Smiley winking
