The Dance

Elizabeth, on April 23, 2024 at 11:36 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 2
So my dad passed away when I was 28 and my mom when I was 25. I’m having my best friend walk me down and I’m having my uncle do the father/daughter dance with me. Any suggestions on music for this dance.

I've seen people use songs like What a Wonderful World or You'll Be in My Heart, where the lyrics don't mention the word father or daughter specifically.

I am so, so sorry for your loss. Some of these songs below reflect a variety of themes, such as well-wishes, nostalgia, sadness, and longing. It might be worth having a live musician such as a harpist, violinist, or cellist playing the song. People may know the lyrics and the emotions the song is trying to play, and it can just be you and your uncle sharing a moment thinking back on memories. Sometimes the most powerful moments are the ones with words that aren't spoken.

    "My Wish" by Rascall Flats
    "Forever Young" by Rod Stewart
    "Sometimes" by the Carpenters
    "Beautiful" by Mali Music
"I Am Your Angel" by Celine Dion
"You'll be in My Heart" by Phil Collins
"If Tomorrow Never Comes" by Garth Brooks and Kent Blazy
"Life Ain't Always Beautiful" by Gary Allan
    "Nothing Else Matters" by Metallica
    "Drift Away" by Unckle Kracker

    "Broken Wings" by Flyleaf
-This can be very beautiful if it is slowed down, or even played live on an acoustic guitar.
