The cost of up-lighting...

MrsHicks, on January 24, 2014 at 8:11 PM Posted in Community Conversations 1 33

Is completely and totally RIDICULOUS!!! I have been playing with the idea of getting up-lighting and have gotten a couple of quotes, $1200 and $699. Are these folks crazy?! What are you paying for up-lighting (if you are getting it)?

4 separate lights are costing us $150 just to rent. How many lights, watts, colors and designs are you getting?

We paid 1700, BUT it was included in our dj package. It included a room fully uplighted, standard dj lighting, photo montage w/ projector screen, custom monogram lighting for dance floor and wall, and 2 djs for unlimited time for the reception as well as sound for the ceremony. If we just did the room uplighting it was 500.

Omg yes it is! I wanted it so bad and luckily we found a Dj who gave us an amazing deal! He included advanced uplighting for free. I had to stray away from the large companies and lean toward independent djs! Also it took a ton of research!

I did not want up lighting because I wanted the glow of candlelight, but the uplighting package at my venue is $695.

We are paying $900. It was the cheapest I could find. Our DJ offered a package that included it for $1100. It makes a HUGE difference at our venue. After seeing the before/ after pics I can't not have it.

It's $150 add-on to our DJ package but when I priced it separately, it was between $400 and $1000.

We got it included n our DJ package but had the option to add on more uplighting for $25/each.

Thos prices you gave seem kind of steep.

I need about 15 lights and I wanted the monogram for the dance floor. I will look into the DIY. I am in the Boston area. My DJ doesn't provide it but I love him so that is ok.

    FREE!!!!

    (sort of)

Our DJ and venue have a great agreement that if we book the DJ we get the lighting package for free. if we book a different dj, we have to pay 500 plus tax for uplighting only... right now we have a full top tier lighting package for what we would pay for just a DJ. ($10-something... cant remember)

We paid for a DJ package including dance floor lighting for 1900 (ceremony - end of reception, all music, announcements, etc). They decided to give us free uplighting. It looked nice but we wouldn't have missed it if we didnt have it.

Our dj package including 8 uplights is $650.. but my wedding is a Monday so I got lots of discounts on pricing. I saved over $500 by it being on that day.

I know, right! Once I saw how much I would save all across the board (venue, DJ, flowers, etc) I politely moved the date to a Monday evening. My family gave me a side eye, but they are still coming, lol. It is saving me thousands of dollars, and it will be a fun get away!
