The Coach House at The Ryland Inn

The Coach House looks absolutely gorgeous. Just incredible, especially in the winter time. I haven't been there myself during the winter, but from what I can see, there's quite a bit of space. Sure, there might be some jackets in the way, but I think everyone would be able to fit. Some people are also just going to naturally end up outside. Every wedding I've been to, there's been a point where guests are outside for some reason or another.

I found these pictures from a real winter wedding at the Coach House and, again, giving some leeway on angles and such, it looks like there's plenty of room for all of the guests, tables, and dancing.

If the venue says that they can accommodate up to 200 people, I would believe them. It's their space and they know how to work it best to fit however many people they're asked to. If you have any other concerns, then I would bring them up with the venue representative. They can help you figure out the best way to fit everything in the room. Hope this helps!!

Thanks for your input Maggie. We loved the location when we visited it. My FW completely fell in love with it. We thought the venue space would certainly accommodate our group, but our concern was more with the cocktail hour space. Being a winter wedding, people will not be able to utilize the outdoor patio space. With there being limited seating inside, we thought it might be too cramped.

I'm getting married at The Ryland Inn in April after touring both spaces and ultimately deciding on the ballroom, I will say that personally, I feel 170 would feel tight in the Coach House's cocktail hour space, especially since the outdoor areas wouldn't really be utilized. Of course it's doable since the venue knows best, and the numbers they give are going to be off years of experience (and fire codes lol), just my personal opinion. That space is gorgeous though. My fiance and I were awestruck over the silo bar, and it made it very hard for me to choose which room I wanted.

Have you considered the ballroom? The prices are the same for both spaces, and the ballroom affords more cocktail hour space. Of course if your fiancee has her heart set on the Coach House I certainly don't blame her!

We did look at both spaces. We did like both, but the Coach House is what brought us to the Ryland Inn to begin with. The ballroom certainly provides the additional space for cocktail as well as the outdoor space, but she wanted more of a rustic/barn feel for the venue. That is why we've been leaning towards the Coach House. Everything else about the place is all that she wanted, so we may just hope for the best with the weather and cocktail hour and enjoy the rest of the night.
