The Black Tux versus Men's Wearhouse

Brittnee, on January 8, 2020 at 10:29 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 6

Hey y'all!

My wedding is black tie, so the groom/groomsmen are wearing black tuxes--the groom is actually going to swap into a white dinner jacket at the reception. I know The Black Tux carries some very modern, sharp tuxes as well as built-in "two look" packages for grooms who want to make a switch.

When I think of Men's Wearhouse tuxes, I think of the more generic, usually less crisp and fashion-forward looks. However, Men's Wearhouse stores are everywhere and I know those would be very simple for the groomsmen to go to!

Did anyone else waffle between these two choices, or can you provide any insight?

Thanks!

We had a horrible experience with Men's Warehouse, but it may have been the location we went to. I have never used Black Tux but they have good reviews.

Mens wearhouse has been an absolute nightmare every time my we have been has been. they screwed up each year for my hubby's high school prom and recently screwed up half of my brother's groomsmen suits (we found out a day before that they were off 2 inches on everything for half of the guys because they notified us to pick them up less than 24 hours before the day-of). i would steer clear of mens wearhouse. as for the other, im unsure as we dont have one of those where i live. however, im sure you could access reviews online. good luck love! 💕

We were on the fence between Men's Wearhouse and TheBlackTux. I feel like Men's Wearhouse is the same as David's Bridal where you either have a really good experience or a really bad experience (based off what I've heard from others). The reason we ended up not going with Men's Wearhouse aside from them being more expensive was that they require you to return the suit the day after your event. We're leaving our reception and going straight to our honeymoon and we want to leave in our wedding attire. There was no Men's Wearhouse in the area where we're honeymooning, so I looked into TheBlackTux. They've been more than helpful with their customer service so far, they're cheaper, and FH even has the option to buy the suit after the wedding for an additional cost instead of sending it back (he hasn't decided yet). They only require that you send it back within 2-3 days I believe and all you have to do is drop it at any post office. Way more convenient for us.

My husband and his groomsmen had a terrible time with Men's Wearhouse. Eventhough all the information was in their system, the staff at Men's Wearhouse still got confused and were giving his groomsmen different tuxes and different colors at different prices. Fortunately, his groomsmen informed him that something wasn't right because they knew our color was dark green; had they not informed my husband, they would all be wearing different colors. LOL I would not recommend Men's Wearhouse.

Daughter and SIL had an excellent experience with BlackTux -- absolutely no regrets. (SIL had previous terrible experiences with MW). BT is MUCH less expensive, has more options/selections, great customer service, etc. The suits will arrive 10-14 days before the wedding, just make sure everyone tries them on immediately! If there are any fit issues, as long as you notify BT within 48 hours of delivery, they guarantee on time replacement without any additional costs (if you wait to report something, you may need to pay expedited shipping costs to make sure it arrives on time). Good luck!

Personally, I hate Men's Wearhouse. Every experience we've had there has been a disaster and when we went in, the service was a joke. We used GenTux, it was so easy & we loved it.

The groomsmen & groom are in GenTux suits. The Black Tux versus Men's Wearhouse 1
