Tell me about your honeymoons!

Khin, on June 24, 2019 at 12:32 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 21
My FH and I just started planning our honeymoon and we are so overwhelmed. I would like to know what everyone did for their honeymoons or what they are planning on doing! TIA!

- Where did you go and for how long?
- How much did you end up spending approximately?
- Did you plan it on your own?
- Would you change anything about your honeymoon?

My wedding is Sept 28th so we haven't gone on our honeymoon yet. We are planning on a 4-day Carnival Cruise to the Bahamas. We planned/booked everything on our own. We are leaving on Sept 29th, staying in a hotel night before and our cruise leaves on Sept 30th. For the cruise, flights, hotel stay, transportation to/from port, and excursions we paid about $1600. I'm expecting total cost of $**** since I'm expecting to spend about $400-600 on souvenirs, drinks, food, etc.

    - Where did you go and for how long? We are going to Hawaii for 7 nights, 3 nights on Maui and 4 nights on Oahu.
    - How much did you end up spending approximately? Our budget is right around $6,000.
    - Did you plan it on your own? Yes, we did all the planning ourselves.
    - Would you change anything about your honeymoon? Looking back, I wish we planned more like 9-11 nights since it seems like we are trying to fit a lot into our trip. Not a huge deal, we typically go on 1-3 vacations a year anyway, but I would have budgeted more if I knew that.

We are going to Destin, Florida for 4 nights and 5 days. We spent around $600 on just the condo because we got a great deal on VRBO! We are driving there (its about 16 hours) so we didn't have plane ticket expenses. Just gas, and one hotel room in Nashville on the way down and one hotel room somewhere on the way back.

We planned it all on our own, and I have a couple of excursions that I'll be booking online this week - a boat captain to take us out to Crab Island and maybe a snorkeling adventure! If I could change anything it would be the amount of time we have there, but our budget was pretty small for our honeymoon after paying for our own wedding.

Our honeymoon isn't until March, but we're going to Providenciales, Turks and Caicos! We're going for 7 nights/8 days. We got our flights for $75 total. They would've been $688 total, but I had a ton of credit card rewards miles with my Capitol One Venture card (I highly recommend this card!!). We got a condo that overlooks the ocean with 2 pools, a hot tub, and fitness center for a little over $1,200 on Homeaway.com (it was MUCH cheaper than the resorts). After food and excursions, it'll probably cost around $2,000-$2,500, but my FIL's are going to pay for our condo since my parents have paid for most of the wedding. We've planned it all on our own! I LOVE traveling and usually always plan trips with my family and friends.

I just booked my honeymoon and cannot wait!!

My FH and I will be going to Costa Rica in Dec 2018/Jan 2019 for 11 nights.

We spent a total of $3,640 for our resort and flight.

We did plan it on our own, rather than using an agency.

We're spending a couple days in Montreal right after the wedding to get away and relax a little. So far our only cost as been $700 for our hotel.

In March 2020 we plan on taking a full honeymoon to Iceland and we're pricing packages at about $****.

Is there a set itinerary that comes with the cruise or do you set your own? The price is so reasonable! Great job!

So when you say packages, does that mean with a tour guide and everything?

The cruise sets the times/ places we stop. For example my cruise is stopping at 2 places in the Bahamas. We get there at like 8am and leave around 6pm. However, while there we can do whatever we choose. Also, when on the cruise at sea we can do whatever we choose.

Did you buy the flights ahead of time to hop between places? Or just fly to your first destination and depends on how long you want to stay there...buy your next flight?
