Teeth whitening for sensitive teeth?

Michelle, on July 18, 2016 at 9:41 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 20

Does anyone have a good teeth whitening product for sensitive teeth? I can't use crest white strips within five minutes of using them my teeth are in excruciating pain and it lasts a day or two.

Have you tried oil pulling? It's weird and kinda gross, but really helps with sensitivity.

I would definitely consult your dentist. There is a sensodyne whitening Toothpaste though.

Try brushing with sensodyne for a month or two leading up to using any teeth whitening. It will build up your tolerance, it works well for me in combination!

I am a bit sensitive to Crest strips and just had one whitening at dentist. OMG I had a terrible 24 hours after the treatment but at least now my teeth are insanely white.

I oil pull with coconut oil, and I swear, it has whitened my teeth! It was a little gross at first, but I got use to it over time. I do it twice a day now, and I love it! I also use Sensodyne's toothpaste Gentle Whitening.

@Bailey, lol! Me, too! It works, though.

@Onlybattles, I would swear the same thing. With some high quality coconut oil it can be really amazing!

I use "my magic mud," which you can buy online. It's activated charcoal and it looks crazy when you use it. If you try it, I recommend using it in the shower to eliminate the mess at the sink.

    I love oil pulling!

I've been seeing turmeric as a teeth whitener online?? Not sure if that's really a thing or not, haven't tried it!

I just go on groupon and get the teeth whitening kits and most of them come with a gel to help sensitive teeth

Try baking soda. I've also seen people use banana peels as teeth whitening strips (they put the fruit part closest to their teeth so that if they smiled the yellow would be showing) you're supposed to use the peels with brown dots on them. Can't remember how long to leave them though.

Crest has a "sensitive" line of whitening strips that i use. You wear them for literally 5 mins per session. I've never had probs with those ones! I have had issues with the 1 hour ones, etc.

I have heard good things about the sensitive line, but also told it takes forever for them to work. You can also brush with sensodyne before putting strips on.

As for oil pulling, the only thing it does is to help coat your teeth with a barrier.

Keep an eye out for silica!! That's what causes the pain with sensitive teeth, and it's in the "gentle whitening" 3D white kit, too. I literally posted a status on Facebook asking this exact same thing. I'm on a prescription toothpaste for my sensitivity, and even knowing this, my dentist still recommended white strips. I tried one strip and was in pain for the entire rest of the day, up until I went to bed. I brush my teeth with baking soda in the mornings and it seems to be helping. I tried brushing with crest 3D white toothpaste every other day while still using my prescription, and my sensitivity came back. I'm going to go back to using the baking soda in the AM. Remember to brush with toothpaste after the baking soda, though. It shouldn't be used as a substitute for your toothpaste. Good luck!!

Side note: I'm definitely going to try oil pulling starting tomorrow morning. The amount of coconut oil I use every day, I'm surprised I've never heard of this!!

Try using activated charcoal. That might help in your case. I have found an interesting blog about teeth whitening procedures. But I am not sure whether it is applicable to sensitive teeth.

I used philips zoom whitening kit. Good equipment, previously used removable cartridges for this lamp, large flow of money and a lot of hassle. Advised to buy Zoom Bleach Infiniter. It decided to limit the problem immediately. Bought here zoom-bleach.com

I have tried the whitening from the dental office and strip, both of them makes my teeth very sensitive so I had to stop using it.

My husband and I ended up using activated charcoal. it only took a few use to see the difference. 100% natural, non-toxic chemicals, and it doesnt make my teeth sensitive and way cheaper!!!

this is the brand that we used -
