Teenage ring bearer

carolyn, on January 6, 2019 at 9:13 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 7
My godson/ 9th grade nephew wants to be a ring bearer, which I have no problem with. (I know he's way older than norm for this role). Is there an alternative to him walking down aisle with rings on pillow? Is pillow cheesy since he's older? Any thoughts on this?

What about doing a suitcase like making him ring security or something?

I think he's a little old to be a ring bearer. Maybe you can compromise and make him a junior groomsman and have him keep the rings in his pocket and hand them off when it comes to that part of the ceremony?

My nephew, who will be 15 on our wedding day, will be our ring bearer but we are calling him “ring security” instead. I don’t think age matters at all. I do think he’s too old to walk down with a pillow though. I like PP’s idea of a briefcase.

I'd just have him be a jr groomsman and hold the rings until time. I've only seen small children be ring security. I cant imagine a teenager being on board with that.

Our ring bearer is only 4 years old, but I still thought the pillow was kind of silly, and what would we do with it afterwards anyway. So we picked out a small wooden box on Etsy that was custom engraved on top, so we can keep it as a jewelry box...maybe he could carry something like that.

I think a decorative box or tray could be a good alternative to a pillow. Either that, or have him be one of the groomsmen as others have suggested.

Or, since he wants to be the ring bearer, maybe ask him if he has any ideas? He might come up with something fun that suits his style!
