Teenage Ring Bearer?

Allyson, on January 28, 2020 at 11:59 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 14
My FMIL made us an absolutely beautiful ring pillow with so much sentiment behind it, and we would absolutely love to use it in the wedding. It is a restored pillow that FH’s grandparents used in their wedding 65 years ago. However, the only child attending our wedding is a 3 month old baby. I’m thinking of asking my 14 year old brother to bring the pillow with the rings down the aisle. I know that it’s untraditional, but does it really matter?

Is grandma or grandpa still alive? If so, they should do it.

That's super sweet and nope it totally doesn't matter. My future brother in law will be ours and he's 24 lol. I say use anyone special to you no matter the age!

An other option is to have someone carry the pillow and the baby down the aisle lol. Or have the baby in a wagon. But I think just asking the teenager is also acceptable.

Yup! Well he'll actually wear the same one as the groomsmen but he won't stand with them. I think a normal suit is totally fine though because he'll only be taking a 15 second walk lol... I'm just a matchy person lol

No ma'am is doesn't matter. Your brother can be the ring bearer if you want him to.

I would let your brother decide if he's comfortable. I woudl have been mortified to do that at 14, but some teens would be totally cool with it. I wouldn't push him or make him feel bad for saying no if he doesnt' want to do it.

Yeah, you can definitely give him the option, and if he declines then go with a plan B. But I don't see anything wrong with it at all!

I love the idea of your teenage brother doing it, but really anyone could do it. What's important is that they want to. If your bro isn't into being the ring bearer because he thinks its childish or just not something he wants to do then I wouldn't force it.
