Teacher Bride

I'm sure this will take a while! I'm getting married in the summer, so the transition for my students next year will hopefully be more painless since they'll come into the school year using my new name. However, I anticipate a few years of being called by my current last name since I know students in K-6 at my school (I teach 4th, so all of my former students and then we have kindergarten buddies, so I know half of K-3 as well). They seemed to transition pretty easily with my grade level partner when she got married last summer, but I'm still having trouble calling her by her new last name!

It took me about 2 months to get used to hearing it. Most of them have it down but some still forget.

I question the same thing. One kid called me by soon-to-be last name and i was taken back. So it might take me a long time, but ill know by next school year. Even though i am getting married in april, I am telling the kids about my new last name in aug.

I work at a private school and taught elementary for several years. I was always called by my first name. Now I teach middle school and one asked me the other day about it, but I'll always be Mrs. Courtney lol.... it seems weird or feels weird to be called by my last name

My problem is wondering how long it will get the kids to call me by my new last name. I’m a music teacher so I teach all 610 kids in our school. Some of them have been calling me Ms. ______ for so long, I can imagine making the change to a new name will be difficult!

Yeah its weird because I am really excited to take my fiancé’s last name but for some reason I am going to miss this kids calling me Ms. B. No idea why I am feeling that way.
