Tea house bridal shower?

NenaBear, on October 13, 2015 at 10:23 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 9

Is this a new thing? My MOH has been trying to quietly plan a shower for me. I'm guessing last night she realized this may not be something I would be interested in because she asked what I thought about it. This is completely foreign to me. My initial reaction was, "That sounds boring" (harsh I know.. I promise, I didn't say that to her) I told her it sounded unique and I didn't know much about it to have an opinion. She said it was like a tea party for adults, minus alcohol. Basically, an excuse to dress up and be girly. (I'm feminine, but not girly.) I've been trying to google the idea, but I'm not finding much in my area. Is anyone familiar with this?

I don't want to take away any enthusiasm with my ignorance on the topic. I'm just having a hard time putting this together mentally.

Think cute tea cups and fun hats! My MOH is using the same theme for my shower (so, so sweet of her to throw me one!) - and I'm excited for it.

It def won't be boring - so don't convince yourself of that. Regardless of a theme, a bridal shower is still the same fun stuff. Just decorated different Smiley winking

I won't lie, my first thought before even opening this was "oh my gosh, how cute!" lol. So, I guess I don't share your sentiment. Then again, I am not SUPER girly myself either. I just like tea. I think it will still be fun for you though: it's a bridal shower. It will be fun either way.

ETA: Check out this one. I think it looks nice! http://spotofteadesigns.com/2012/05/a-tea-party-bridal-shower/

Holy CRAP I would die for a tea house shower. I am madly in love with tea houses. They can be girly, sure, but they can also be gorgeously antique, stately, elegant and all-around fantastic. Kinda depends on the tea house.

    Things you can expect -

    Sandwiches to die for

So many cups of so many kinds of wonderful teas

    Delicious treats

    Lots of laughs

    Getting really, really full

@Allie great point! Same stuff, different location. It is what we make it. Exactly what I needed to hear to bring this into perspective. Thank you!

@MissEtoMrsB that's super cute! I like tea. It's the oh so girly feel that is throwing me for a loop. I don't know how to handle it lol

This must be a new thing, because my stepsister just had one for her shower, and it looked super cute!! Even if you're not super girly, I think it's a fun alternative to just going out to eat. Yummy food, too!

Crap you guys are fast! I take care of 1 little thing before hitting post and come back wayyy behind.

@Surfergirl for serious.. Wine, mimosa, I'm in. Tea and frilly stuff.... yeah... about that.

@Katherine I live in the Sarasota, FL area. There are a couple in Tampa about an hour away.

@Kiwi I like tea and it sounds cute. It's the hats and frills that I'm like, "whoa.. umm..... not sure about that" with. It's sooooo not me, but totally my MOH. Which is why we are BFFs. She is the reason I now own pink ;-) Edit: It totally missed the link. Thank you so much!!! That definitely brings things into perspective.

@Randi Thank you! I do love antiques, food, and laughs.

Yes, yes, yes!! I went to a bridesmaid tea for a friend's wedding in 2004 and it was so fun. The Royal Tea Room in S Tampa is amazing! Great food, tea and atmosphere but without that (potentially) cheesy dress-up factor. My mom and I love going there as a treat on special occasions and it's the perfect size for a bridal tea.
