Tattoo cover up help!!

Miss.MtoMrs..K, on May 4, 2016 at 2:26 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 9

I have a tattoo that ultimately I plan to cover with another tattoo but having trouble with a design. If I find a design I like I will do it before the wedding. For now what's a good cover up method for a tattoo?

I've actually seen a lot of dyi make up tutorials on YouTube for covering up tattoos.

One used drug store make up, just use your regular foundation for the base, then cheap hairspray, let dry.

Then a layer of either bright pink or bright orange eyeshadow (pink if you're a pink tinted skin type and orange if you're more orange etc). Hair spray, dry. Repeat 2 more times so all you see is eyeshadow.

Then a thick layer of foundation applied by dabbing with a brush. Hairspray, dry.

Another layer of foundation, but thinner and smoother this time - also apply farther out on the skin to begin blending. Hairspray, dry.

Last apply foundation over it to match your skin tone best and then some powder to set it all. Use either hairspray or a professional setting spray at this point.

And trust me - the tattoo is gone! Just avoid the best you can rubbing the area of course!

Talk to a reputable tattoo artist. They can help with the design based on ideas you give them. You have time to get it covered in sessions if necessary for size or price.

Definetly want to get it covered. Just checked dermablend and for the price I rather pay for the cover up. I wish I knew a tattoo artist where I live but I do not so I'll have to find one.

You'll definitely want to talk to a tattoo artist about what to cover it with - not every design you see might work, and they should be able to actually just design you a good tattoo to cover it. I prefer to find artists that do really great custom work rather than ones that copy flash.

But,please,be realistic.!! There are so many images just that good. So if you’re getting a cover up done for a price that seems a little lower then average, then you’re probably paying for a cover up that is not what you’re expecting. Cover up tattoos can be costly but doing your research will help you find a happy medium and an overall great outcome.

If youre just looking for a quick make up fix I go for Kat von D's Lock-It concealer mixed with a tarte concealer, blended with a the lockit foundation and a light translucent powder over top. Also, I use Lock-it concealer, then tarte, then lock-it foundation. Another tip, if your tattoo has a lot of black in it (I have all black and grey tattoos) I always start the first concealer(lock-it) with a shade lighter than your skin tone. The others can be your skin tone. But you essentially want to "white" it out first, then build on top of it. I have finger tattoos and have used it for this. I have also applied this to other people. If not wanting to spend major money on make up cover..(though you still need the lock it concealer) Wet and Wild use to have this cover up stick that I found in a Literal WHITE color.. Which sounded horrendous at the time when I bought it but turned out to be a life savor. I have used it on clients with bad sun spots or dark spots and made a very clean and smooth complexion. I used the wet and wild cover stick on tattoos before I started using tarte concealer regularly and it works wonders also.

Lastly: practice the stippling brush techniques for this. It creates the best cover up.

-Brushes in this video are great also.
