Tattoo brides!!

Toni, on December 17, 2018 at 9:51 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 31
I’m really struggling over here guys. Part of me wants to cover up my tattoos for my wedding day, part of me says leave them alone. I don’t know why I want to cover them (I’m very proud of them) it’s just how I imagine my wedding day. By the time I get married this time next year I’ll have a whole sleeve done on my right arm.
Please post pictures of how you wore your tattoos on your wedding or if you covered them how did it come out? What did you use?

heres my wedding dress for additional thoughts?

I love them! I don't have any personally (because I'm afraid of needles!) but I think they can look so awesome with wedding dresses!

My only concern is if you cover them and then you are hugging people, will you be getting makeup all over the guests clothes or all over yourself as you get into the night and start dancing and sweating?

People often recommend Dermablend, but I didn't have luck with it when I tried. My skin is a weird pigment and they would have had to blend multiple tones to match, which gets pricey.

Also, agree with FutureMrsKC, you want to be careful about the makeup rubbing off. My makeup artist said she highly recommended against me covering the one on my shoulder, because even with airbrush, she felt that it would rub off on the wedding dress.

Do what you want to do. If that's covering, great, if not, great. Just make sure you use quality product and do multiple test runs where you wear the makeup all day, because you don't want it come off, and a half-covered tattoo will look worse than a covered/naked tattoo.

Don't feel obligated to cover up your tattoos. They're a part of who you are, both literally and figuratively.

Your dress is really pretty!! I have tattoos but not a sleeve. In my dress 4 will be showing (back, upper arm, wrist, and chest) but I don't plan on covering them!

My only thought is that if you're wanting to cover them it might make sense to wait until after your wedding to get more work done. It's hard to tell but it looks now like you could maybe cover them with an elbow length glove, if you wanted to.

Personally, I'd say let them show, as PP said you don't want to leave makeup residue on people, and anything else (gloves, long sleeves) might not fit your look.

I didn't cover my tattoos. I didn't have any bridesmaids or groomsmen cover theirs. My sister has a sleeve and it looked amazing in my photos. I wouldn't cover them if I were you. The make up could rub off on your guest.

I’m not covering mine, at this point everyone knows I have them so there’s no point in me covering them. I have a 1/4 sleeve on one arm, the inside of my other arm, and both wrist tattoos visible in my dress. If you do cover your sleeve with makeup, make sure to set the makeup with powder otherwise it’ll smear everywhere. There’s still no guarantee that it won’t smear, but it’ll be less of a risk. I used to use Hard Candy Glamoflauge when I had to cover mine for a job and it works really well, but feels kinda greasy.

I have 4 on my back and 1 on my wrist. I haven’t started dress looking yet but I plan on having a strapless gown. Any which way I have no plans on covering them. Each one means something very special and some of them honor people who are no longer here, my Daddy and my best friend of 32 years. So it’s like they are here in spirit. But definitely do what makes you happy. It’s all about you happy.

I will be showing 2 of mine on the day, my back and wrist tattoo's will be on show. I intentionally wanted my back one out because i love it.

It's personal preference, but everyone know's you have them so show them off, they are a part of you Smiley smile

I'm on team show them! My bolero covered the one on my shoulder blade but I didn't get it to cover it. I didn't wear it during the ceremony because it got too hot but I just thought it looked cool with my dress lol.

First of all, I love your dress! I think you should go with what feels right - I love every one of my tattoos, they are a huge part of me and every one has a deeply personal meaning. I love how they turned out in my pictures and know I will always be happy with my decision to show them off Smiley smile

You could “cover” them in a different way. Maybe stick some rhinestones or pearls on highlight spots and help decorate your tattoos to make them more “quaint.” That way you can expose them but they can be just a brilliant and elegant as you!

I have a full sleeve and if I covered them up my family and friends would be like who are you??? But in all honesty, I think tattooed brides are beautiful and I love the way my arm looks with my dress.
Covering a full sleeve is a bit difficult but if you want some pictures without them showing you can look into a shaw or cover up.
